Katherine Gaillard Rand Davenport of Searcy, Arkansas, peacefully passed on February 11th, 2025 at the age of 93. She was faithful to her Lord and dearly loved her family and her country. She was most happy celebrating people and life around her through gardening, cooking and crafting.
Katherine was born to Charles Franklin Rand (''Ted'') and Emogene Knapp Howard Rand on September 29th, 1931 in North Tonawanda, New York. After graduating from Hiram College in 1953 she taught school for over 30 years in Cleveland, Ohio; Las Cruces, New Mexico and Wallkill, New York. Later she became a small business owner in Searcy, Arkansas and Coshocton, Ohio. She finished her working years as a Telemetry Technician at Central Arkansas Hospital in Searcy, Arkansas. Over the decades her home addresses also included Denver, CO; Albuquerque, NM; New Haven, CT; Walden, NY; Milton, FL and Keller, TX.
She was a faithful member of Westside Church of Christ in Searcy for 23 years and was especially grateful for their ministry at Providence Senior Living.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Charles Franklin Rand, Jr (''Ted Jr'') and Benjamin Long Rand II. She is survived by three children: Rachel Simpson (Van) of Searcy, AR; James Davenport of Clover, SC and Peter Davenport (Pamela) of O'Fallon, IL; nine grandchildren: Benjamin Simpson (Vanessa), Philip Simpson (Kristen), Erin Davenport (Emily), Jared Davenport, Rachel Pearce (Colton), Valerie Davenport (Mike), Aimee Davenport, Hannah Davenport (Jacob) and Kimberly Davenport and two great-grandchildren: Stella Simpson and Rip Simpson. She is also survived by nephews and nieces: Jo Rand, Holly Knoll, Benjamin Rand III, Chris Rand, John Rand, Margaret Peters, Mary Morrow and Therese Evangel.
The family would like to thank the community of Providence Senior Living where Katherine resided for the past 23 years for their care, friendship and fellowship.
There will be a service for Katherine at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy, Arkansas at 10:00am on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
