of Jonesboro, AR
May 22, 1964 - February 11, 2025
Harold F. "Skipper" Kelley, 60, went to his heavenly home on February 11, 2025. Born on May 22, 1964, Skipper was the son of Harold Kelley and Mary Kelley. Skipper is survived by his two daughters, Heather Lucius (the late Cole Lucius, who no doubt is in Heaven telling Skipper to stop making ''dad jokes'') of Osceola, Arkansas and Morgen Kelley of Jonesboro, Arkansas. He also leaves behind three grandsons, Sonny, Aden and Jaxon Lucius, who will now carry the torch of his occasional shenanigans. Skipper is also survived by his two sisters, Linda Jones (Terry) of Houston, Texas and Kay Young (Andy) of Cuero, TX, who probably have enough hilarious Skipper stories to last a lifetime; Two uncles, David Starling and Albert (Jackie) Starling of Fayetteville, AR; Nephews, Jerry Stewart II (Joanna), the late Dustin Reece and Nieces, Lindsay Boggs (Michael) and Natalie Ball(Gary). Known for his passion for the great outdoors, Skipper spent many hours soaking up the sun and fun at Lake Norfork, where he was a pretty good skier (though he'd probably claim he was a great skier if you asked him). He was also an exceptional swimmer-so good, in fact, that we're pretty sure he would've given Michael Phelps a run for his money, at least in Skipper's version of the race. An avid BBQ enthusiast, Skipper spent countless hours judging the Memphis BBQ competition-mostly because he thought it was a "serious" job that included unlimited food. He was also an outspoken member of the Republican committee. Skipper was also a proud member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity, where he definitely created his fair share of hilarious, memorable moments (and maybe a few good stories). While Skipper has left us, his cooking, quirky humor and passion for grilling and cooking will be remembered. We're sure the angels are already having a cook-off in your honor-and they're probably having a blast at Lake Norfork too.

I met Skip through politics, and we just clicked right off. I told him my quote "I tend to like people I agree with" and we agreed on a lot of issues. I always looked forward to seeing him when I traveled to NE Arkansas or other places where I knew he would attend. He was known for traveling all over the state to promote conservative ideas. I know he made many friends throughout the last few years by helping spread that message. I hope he enjoyed being around me as much as I did him. You will be missed.
Rest in peace friend.
I was grateful to call Skip a friend. He was a hard working man who honored his promises and stood up for the causes he believed in with his whole heart. His unexpected passing was a great loss to our community and state as they benefitted from his talents and dedication to truth and honesty. I extend my deepest sympathy to his family and will pray for God’s comfort to surround you.
Skip I will miss you forever my dear friend….All the times campaigning for so many we believed in…and the events we went to…. I’ll miss our phone conversations about everything…I’ll miss your humor and most of all how you called me sis….As we just adopted each other as family from day one of meeting. I’ll miss hanging out watching deer or raccoons in my yard…my heart hurts missing you my friend but I know where you are and the celebrations you must be having….until we meet again save me a seat as I always asked you to do at the CCR meetings!!! Until then, I love you brother…….
My deepest condolences to Skip’s family for your loss. Skip and I spent hours driving T-posts and putting up political signs during several campaign cycles. I could always count on Skip for help and support. I miss you already.
