John Stanford Cooper

of Wynne, AR

August 3, 1959 - February 9, 2025

John Stanford Cooper, 65, of Wynne, Arkansas passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Perry (J.P.) and Mary Louise Cooper in Memphis, Tennessee on August 3,1959. John grew up on his family's farm in Parkin, Arkansas and graduated from Parkin High School.

On January 14, 1984, he married the love of his life, Kimberly Hicks and together they built a life rooted in family, faith, and farming. John dedicated his life to agriculture, farming rice, soybeans, milo and wheat, a passion he carried from childhood. He began a career alongside farming in the banking industry at First State Bank, later becoming Evolve Bank and was a 2006 graduate from Barret School of Banking before joining Helena National Bank which later became Partners Bank.

Beyond his work, John was a leader in the farming community. He actively served on the board of Partners Bank and Riceland Foods. Formerly he was a member of the United Soybean Board, Arkansas Soybean Board, Riceland in Depth, and USA Rice Council, he served as chairman of the Cross County FSA County Committee and was a former president of Cross County Farm Bureau. He was a Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers and Dupont Young Leader. In 1997 he was honored as Cross County Farm Family of the Year.

John was hard working, kind, and had a giving heart. He was known for his sense or humor by those closest to him, and to all with his unwavering dedication to his family. He passed down his love of agriculture, his generosity, and a heart of gold to those who knew him.

John was preceded in death by his grandparents The Rev and Mrs. Stan Maxey and Mr. and Mrs. James C. Cooper; Parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.P and Louise Cooper of Parkin, Arkansas; brother, James P. (Jim) Cooper; and sister, JoAnn Gower.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Kimberly Cooper, his two sons, Jonathan Cooper, Paul Cooper and wife, Tiffany and two beloved grandchildren, Kennedy and Corbyn Cooper, all of Wynne. He is also survived by his sister, Bettye Kelly, of Vicksburg, Mississippi and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Memphis, Arkansas on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 10-12. There will be a private burial ceremony for the family at a later date.

The family requests that any memorials be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the charity of donor's choice.
