of Little Rock, AR
January 9, 1922 - February 3, 2025
Elfreda "Freda" Inez (Ussery) Lieblong, 103, passed away peacefully in her home on February 3, 2025. She was born on January 9, 1922 in Quitman, Arkansas to Joseph and Hettie (Sanders) Ussery.
After graduating high school with perfect attendance and as valedictorian, Freda moved to Little Rock to attend business school. On February 17, 1945, she married the love of her life, Clyde Lieblong, at Temple Baptist Church (now South City Church). Their honeymoon was combined with Clyde's first flight training assignment in Pensacola, Florida, where they lived until the end of World War II before returning to Arkansas. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage.
After Clyde's military service, Freda and Clyde spent several years in Atkins, where Clyde taught vocational agriculture, before settling in Little Rock, where he worked for the Department of Agriculture at the state and federal levels. Together, they built their dream home on five acres outside of Bryant, Arkansas, where Freda lovingly prepared homegrown vegetables from Clyde's garden. She lived there for 32 years before moving to Parkway Village, where she spent 18 wonderful years surrounded by cherished neighbors and friends.
Throughout her life she actively served in her church and also took on various roles, including working in retail for friends, serving as a voting poll worker and assisting with the census.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde Lieblong; her son, Robert Lieblong; siblings, Lowell Bowie, JoAnna Earl and JD Ussery and dear friends, Buddy and Lillian Owens.
She is survived by her daughter, Sarah (Wayne) Eye; grandchildren, Beth (Steve) Humphreys, David (Julie) Eye, Sarah (Collin) Brown and Ashley Lieblong; great-grandchildren, Grace, Caroline and Canon Humphreys, Zayden, Nixxin and Brianna Eye, Aslynn and Lorelai Ackers; her sister, Reba Luck; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ussery and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Freda had a deep love for family and a simple yet rich life. She found her greatest joy in being a devoted wife, mother and volunteer. She cherished Christmas and found joy in being with loved ones. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and John 3:16 was her guiding scripture. She loved the hymn "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and will be remembered for her discipline, kindness, generosity, unwavering positivity and dedication to her family and faith.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Angie, Lauren, Rina and Ron and Brenda Carter.
Services to honor Freda will be held Saturday, February 15th at Roller-Drummond at 11:30 am, with interment to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Alexander, Arkansas. The family will be receiving friends during the service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to South City Church, her beloved church, in her memory.
