Jerry Dale Johnson, age 85, of Searcy AR went to be with the Lord on February 4, 2025. He was born on April 18, 1939 in Searcy, Arkansas to the late LD Johnson and Ruby Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Kevin Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Evans Johnson of the home; his daughter, Katrina Mimms of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Evan Johnson (Ashlyn) of Fayetteville, Isaac Johnson (Michelle) of Springdale and Caleb and Caden Mimms of Jacksonville; as well as three great-grandchildren, Rhett, Graham and Ella James. He is also survived by his twin brother, Terry (Sharon) of Jacksonville.

In 1959 Jerry joined the Arkansas National Guard and served for 40 years before retiring as a master sergeant. During this time, he also served as a volunteer fireman for the Searcy Fire Department for 25 years. He was also elected as White County Sheriff for 6 years. Early in his career, he was a building contractor helping develop the Cloverdale subdivision. Before retiring, he owned a trucking company that delivered groceries to Walmart Supercenters.

Jerry was a devoted member of Searcy First Assembly of God Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon and Royal Rangers leader. He was actively involved in student ministry, serving in various capacities and enjoyed being a part of the living nativity scene. He was known for his sense of humor, his ability to fix or repair anything and his willingness to help others.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Arkansas Hospice in Searcy for their love and care provided for Jerry. Special thanks also to Jennifer Busby, Renea Neal, Barbara Stubblefield and the weekend staff of Arkansas Hospice for their compassionate care. Memorials can be made to Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock AR, 72116 and Searcy First Assembly of God Church 101 Benton St, Searcy AR, 72143.

Visitation will be held 12:30-1:45PM on Friday, February 7, 2025 at First Assembly of God in Searcy with Service to follow at 2:00PM. Interment will be at White County Memorial Gardens.

Pat,Katrina, and grandsons. Pat you know what Jerry meant to me. Katrina and grandsons you may not, he was such a good friend not only to my husband but to me. We’d camp together, eat together, play games together. But most of all when I talked to Jerry he listened to what I was saying. Most of our camping group would only half listen or make some kind of joke about what I was saying. I’ve missed that Jerry for the last several years but Praise God if I can be as good as this man was I will see that Jerry again in Heaven!

My heart is so sad at Jerry’s passing. I’ve know Jerry and Patricia since is was a little girl. I remember being at their wedding… Jerry always had smile and had a great sence of humor..He and Patricia were a great team. My thoughts and prayers are with Patricia and family, but what a great reunion in Heaven it’s gonna be.. praying for Gods peace to be upon the family, that only he can give.
