Alta Francis Jones, age 81, of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this earthly life on Monday, February 3rd, 2025 at Baxter Health in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was born in Snowball, Arkansas on December 20th, 1943 to John Taylor DePriest and Ercy Gertrude Scott DePriest.

Alta had a wide and varied work history. In her earlier days, she worked at Dillard's in Dallas, Texas. She was so talented at her work that she was asked to be one of their designers. She also worked as a commercial seamstress for JC Penney's. She worked as a cook at Harps in the deli and was an owner/operator of the Flower Market in Lonestar. She was a talented and knowledgeable botanist and herbalist. She knew the name of every weed, plant, tree and herb. She loved to recommend Willow bark as an herbal treatment for many maladies. One of her favorite things to do was go out for a hamburger basket and a Pepsi. Her wisdom and strong presence will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Jeremiah Jones of Marshall, Dalby Jones (Casey) of Marshall, Lisa Stewart (Paul) of Harrison, Tonya Bazany of Marshall and Randi Jones of Little Rock; grandchildren, Dax Jones of Marshall, Kenzi Jones of Marshall, Kylee Jones of Cotter, Nick Jones (Lindsay) of Marshall, Sara Milholland (Eddie) of Marshall, Kane DeForest of Wichita, KS, Miranda Bazany of Boston, MA, Shawn Bazany of San Antonio, TX and Levi Garcia (Traci) of Ore City, TX; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald DePriest (Von) of Wichita, KS; sisters, Joyce Penrod of Texarkana, TX, June DePriest of Harrison and Connie Thomas of Mulvane, KS and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will also mourn her passing.

Alta is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ercy DePriest; the father of her children, Randy Jones; grandson, Alan DeForest; brothers, John Taylor DePriest Jr., Frank DePriest and James DePriest and her uncle, Buster Scott.

Funeral services for Alta will be 1:00 PM Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas. Visitation will be 12:00 till 1:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Whisenant Cemetery near Snowball. Bearers will be Dillon Milton, Nick Jones, Stephen Hendrix, Shawn Woods, Jeremiah Jones and Paul Stewart. Honorary bearer will be Ronald DePriest.
