Leon Millsaps left his earthly home on January 27, 2025 at his home in Alread surrounded by his ''HONEY'', children, grandchildren, family and friends. Leon was born on May 23, 1946 at home in Nogo (Pope County), Arkansas. He attended Nogo School until it closed and then graduated from Hector Public School on May 11, 1965. He married his high school sweetheart, Lorraine Pruitt on May 12, 1965.
He gave his life to Jesus Christ in July of 1978 and was baptized by Reverend Lyle Koone in the family swimming pool in the back yard of their home. He was a faithful founder and member of the Pleasant Grove Friendship Church in Rupert, Arkansas.
Leon and Lorraine moved to Little Rock where he worked for the Coca Cola Bottling Company for one year and then returned to make their home in Alread, Arkansas for the remainder of his life. He worked in the summer months from 1967-1976 as a teamster for Sam C. Gray in Galveston, Indiana laying and watering sod on highway frontage roads and interstates. The remainder of his life was spent working on his cattle farms. He also hauled and sold firewood in Little Rock and then in the 1980's he was co-owner of Millsaps Stone Company for over 30 years, where he loaded and sold landscaping rocks all over the state of Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and even Florida.
After their 50th wedding anniversary cruise, he loved cruising and eating ice cream cones with his granddaughter, Payton. He loved camping with family and friends and made the best gravy around (even better than Chris Thomas). He loved spending time and traveling with his family and friends and working on his family farms.
Leon was a loved and very well-respected member of the Alread Community all of his life and he will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse E. Millsaps and Annie B. McCuin (Millsaps); his brothers, Dale, Clifford, Leamon; His sisters, Lucy Ray, Evelyn, Pauline and Walcie Millsaps and Two grandsons, Zackary Witt and Corey Millsaps.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of almost 60 years, Lorraine (Pruitt) Millsaps; his children, Melissa (Ron) Terrell of Stilwell, Oklahoma, Melanie (Jesse) Glenn of Alread, Arkansas and Danny (Briana) Millsaps of Hector, Arkansas; His grandchildren, Aaron (Jacinda) Witt, Nathan (Shelby) Witt, LaShonda Norwood, Tevin (Amber) Barker, Danielle Millsaps, Isabella Millsaps, Payton Millsaps, Courtney Cook and Drake Cook; 9 Great-Grandchildren; his brother, Wayne (Sharon) Millsaps and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Pall Bearers are Aaron Witt, Nathan Witt, Jesse Millsaps, Tony Millsaps, Scott Koone, Francisco Ricardez, Javier Ricardez and Chris Thomas. Honorary Pall Bearers are Tevin Barker, James Gilliam and B.J. Millsaps. Officiants are Ray Harmon and James Pack. Music provided by Kim Treat and Carroll Small.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am at Pleasant Grove Friendship Church in Rupert. Interment will follow at Nogo Cemetery in Nogo, Arkansas.

Brother Leon was from a generation that valued family life, working hard and praising God throughout the tough times as well as the blessed times. I am thankful to have known him and he will be missed . Praying for his beautiful family that we share as they navigate life without him.

I’ve known Bro Leon a few years now as I started going to his church n him n his family has become a part of our church family he was a wonderful man n he sure will be missed by so so many we have been blessed to have got to be a part of the church with Bro Leon we r gonna miss you God knew he was getting a great guy we luv n miss you already may you rest in peace
