Mary Ann Burton

of Little Rock, AR

July 26, 1933 - January 14, 2025

Mary Ann Holcombe Burton (Ann), age 91, of Little Rock, Arkansas went home on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Ann was born on July 26, 1933 in Greenville, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late J. T. Holcombe and Mary Marie Bagwell Holcombe (affectionately known as Papa Jake and Mama Ree). Ann graduated high school and went on to complete a Registered Nursing degree. She met her future husband, Ray, through her nursing school roommate, Hilda Bryant, who lived in the same town as Ray in South Carolina. Ann and Ray married on Christmas Day, 1956 and went on to have two daughters and a son. Ann, Ray and family moved to various states and finally ended up in Arkansas; however, South Carolina was home and they ventured back to South Carolina at least once a year. In earlier years, Ann liked to sew and cook and gab with her nurse co-workers over coffee and sweets. Ann also liked to tell stories about growing up with her three brothers, Billy, Bruce and Tommy and about her days with Hilda in nursing school. Ann felt fortunate to have had time to know her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She cherished the short time she had with her friends at Magnolia Landing.

Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Ray Burton; daughter, Nancy Ann Burton; grandson, William Alexander Burton and her brother, Billy Daniel Holcombe, Sr. Ann is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Bobby) Harper; her son, Hal Burton; 7 grandchildren, Robby Harper, Randy Harper (Liz), Gini Eslick (Jesse), Sara Mosley (Austin), Kayleigh Hunter (Cody), Trey Burton and Christina Ellig Helt; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Bruce Holcombe (Anna) and Tommy Holcombe (Irene) and nieces and nephews.

A private service for family will be held at Roller Drummond Funeral Home with burial in Riverwood Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
