January 7, 1972 - January 5, 2025


Our beloved John Allen Ward, age 52, tragically left us on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Baptist East Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. He was born on January 7, 1972 in Jonesboro, AR to John William and Opal Delois (Nunn) Ward. John graduated from Jonesboro High School. He went to Arkansas State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business and worked many years in banking, insurance and was currently working for Butterball. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. His hobbies included putting together puzzles, traveling with his wife and family, doing home improvements with his wife and playing with his dogs, Milo and Mason.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Opal Ward and a sister, Tina Ward Miller.

Left to remember John are his loving wife of 16 years, Melanie Ward; a daughter, Sydney Ward; bonus daughters, Aubrey Defries and Alexis Tippitt who he loved like his own; sister, Karen (Rick) Clark; nephews, Andrew Hipp and Tyler (Emily) Hipp; niece, Angie Clark; great niece, Olivia and many family, friends and loved ones.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Monday, January 13, 2025 at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home (1900 W. Washington Ave. Jonesboro, AR 72401) with Rick Clark officiating.

Visitation will precede the service beginning at 1pm.

Due to inclement weather, the burial will be private.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Andrew Hipp, Tyler Hipp, Johnny Skinner, Wayne Reece, Daniel Adams and Shea Hallett. Honorary pallbearer is Steve Purtee

I hadn't seen John in years. However I can remember some good times that he and I along with other friends had to gather. I'm sorry to hear about his passing.

I worked with John for several years and to say he was a good guy is an understatement. He always had a joke to tell and I never saw him get stressed out or frustrated once no matter how difficult the day's work was. My deepest condolences go to all of John's friends and family, he was a good man and will not be forgotten.

We went to school together and I got to know him and his wife at the pharmacy. John was a kind man and loving soul. I pray that God will be with family and friends at this time for comfort, strength, peace, and love. Melanie if you need anything please let us know. God Bless you all.
