of Peel, AR
October 23, 1958 - January 4, 2025
Joseph Richard Martin, 66, of Peel, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, at Baxter Health in Mountain Home.
Born in Castro Valley, California, on October 23, 1958, Joe was the son of Joseph and Janice Martin. He graduated from James Logan High School and worked in property maintenance and construction. On June 27, 2003, he married Christina, and together they built a life filled with love and family.
Joe was a Catholic, a Moose Lodge member, and a devoted soccer coach for the Sutherlin Valley Recreation Center. Over the years, he became a mentor and role model to many young players, teaching not just the game but also the importance of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Joe's love for his family extended to the broader community, as he rarely missed a chance to cheer on his children at their baseball, softball, and basketball games. He was passionate about creating joyful memories, whether by taking kids tubing, sharing fishing adventures, or crafting special woodworking pieces that reflected his creativity and love. His warm, easygoing nature made him a pillar of support and encouragement, and he had a knack for turning ordinary moments into cherished ones. A die-hard Raiders fan, Joe shared a playful rivalry with his brother-in-law, delighting in folding dollar bills into shapes like T-shirts or footballs to settle their friendly wagers.
He is survived by his wife, Christina Martin of Peel, AR; children Allen ''AJ'' Martin, Joseph ''Joey'' Martin, Isriella Martin, and Nevaeh Martin, all of the home; Joe (Monica) Gensaw of Roseburg, OR; grandchildren Mystaya Fischer, Shannowah Fischer, Joyciana Gensaw, and Ryder Gensaw; sisters Dee (George) Lawson of Tenmile, OR, Yvonne Silveira of Okelong, OR, and Denise (Condie) Valencuela of Sutherlin, OR; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Joe's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Arrangements are under the care of Roller-Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas.
I’ll always remember winter formal dinner (maybe 2004 or 2005) at Apple Peddler. Boating on cooper creek. Camping. I loved being apart of your family, Joe! You are missed so much!
He sounds like he was an amazing husband, father and community member. I am so sorry you lost him so soon.
WE MISS YOU VERY MUCH. YOU WERE A GREAT MAN AND WE LOVE YOU
