Our beloved matriarch, Johnna Lucile Hale Rice, died on January 3rd, 2025. She was 99 years old. Johnna's faith was important to her; she was a member of Landmark Baptist Church.

Johnna was born in Rose Bud, Arkansas on August 14, 1925, one of the daughters of Floyd D. and Estell Moss Hale. Johnna was a graduate of what was then the St. Vincent's School of Nursing and went on to have a long career in Nursing. In September 1947, Johnna met Carl Rice while Johnna worked as Dr. C.K. Hayes office nurse. Carl and Johnna were married on January 17, 1948, in England, Arkansas. Carl and Johnna continued to live in England, and after her career in Nursing, Johnna became an avid golfer and bridge player.

Johnna was preceded in death by her husband, Carl and their two sons, John Brady and Charles Van. Johnna was survived by her five grandchildren, John Steven (and his spouse Erin), Brian Clay, Rebecca Faye (and her spouse Adam), Carly Elizabeth, Hope Christina (and her spouse Tim); and great-grandchildren John Steven Jr., Jackson Carl, AnnaClaire, Jacob, Clay, Lily, Adam, Kierin, Drake, Drew, Brady, Jonah, and Arthur Van; her daughter-in-laws Sheila and Diane; and her nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to the amazing teams at Fox Ridge North Little Rock and Cavalier Healthcare of England. Your kindness, compassion, and dedication to Johnna's comfort and care in her final days will forever be in our hearts.

Visitation will be held at 11:00 AM to Noon at Roller Funeral Home in England on Wednesday, January 8th. The funeral will be held the same day at Noon with Grave side services to follow. The Grave side services will take place at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas.
