I served in the Army.

Gerald "Jerry" Wayne MehargI am a Veteran.

of Greenbrier, AR

July 31, 1941 - January 3, 2025

Gerald 'Jerry' Meharg, a proud veteran of the U.S Army, was called home to his Lord and Savior on 01/03/2025. He passed peacefully at Conway Regional Medical Center in Conway, Arkansas.
The son of Thomas and Annie Meharg, Jerry, was born on July 31, 1941 and grew up in Letona, Arkansas.

After his mothers passing in 1950 when he was just nine years old, Jerry was lovingly raised alongside his father by Mrs Willie Mae White Meharg.

Jerry enlisted in the Army at the age of 18. He valued his service highly and attained the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. As part of this service, he served tours in Honduras and England.

He loved and raised his three children, Belinda, Angelia and Jerry in Cabot Arkansas.

In 1986 he married the love of his life, Mrs. Patsy Jean Meharg. With this marriage he gained three stepchildren, Ronnie, Dana and Sheila who he loved as his own.

Jerry retired from the Army in 1995 after serving 30 years. He also retired from Walmart Distribution Company after 20 years of dedicated service.

He was an active member of Fosters Chapel Baptist Church until he moved to Greenbrier, Arkansas in March of 2021.

Jerry is survived by three children, Belinda and husband, Craig Weinbrenner, Angelia Meharg and Jerry Meharg; three stepchildren, Ronnie and wife, Becky Duncan, Dana Williams and Sheila Duncan; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; His brothers, Bud and Eddie Meharg and sisters, Linda Staggs and Ginny Bennett.

He is preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Annie Meharg; his loving wife, Patsy Meharg; sister, Peggy Wolfe and Granddaughter, Brittany Garcia.

The family would like to give special thanks to Ms. Tiffany Guillen who has taken such wonderful care of him over the last 2 years.

His loved ones will remember him for his incredible sense of humor and the way he loved to tell stories of his childhood.

Jerry loved fishing, camping and being with family, telling stories, old westerns and a perfectly grilled steak. Most of all he loved Jesus and lived his life in a way that would honor his Savior. Our world was better for the 83 years Sergeant 1st Class Gerald Meharg lived in it.

Services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Pleasant Plains, Arkansas with a time of Visitation at 1:00 PM followed by the service to begin at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Union Grove Cemetery with Military Honors. All services are under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, Searcy, Arkansas.

Jerry was a great stepdad to me and my sisters. A man of strength through his faith in God, devotion to family, beliefs in honesty, integrity, reliability, and hard work. When called to duty, he served his nation proudly; not seeking deferment from this high calling. Jerry was always a pleasure to be around and a terrific, loving grandpa to my daughter and son. Rest in peace secured in the promise of Jesus Christ to restore you in eternal life. Love, Ronnie
