Larry Coombs, 77, of Batesville passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025.

He was born November 18, 1947 in Kansas to Eugene and Grace Pottoroff Coombs.

Larry was a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church and a 32nd degree Mason of the Gainesville Lodge. He was a veteran of the United States Army and Air Force serving during Vietnam. Later in life Larry worked as a salesman selling chemicals and also worked for Home Depot setting up store displays. He enjoyed spending time with his family and never met a stranger. He was an arm chair cowboy and loved watching westerns on TV and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He enjoyed carpentry work and making arts and crafts.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sherry Shaver Coombs of the home; son, Russ Coombs (Seoyeon) of Batesville; daughter, Shelly Coombs (Danny Hamilton) of Batesville; sister, Sue Reasoner of Kansas; two half-brothers, Paul Hawkins (Connie) and Hugh Hawkins both of Kansas; five grandchildren, Amber Coombs, Audrey Coombs, Kristy Reynolds, Brandon Brokaw, and Clint Brokaw; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gary Coombs and Butch Coombs; and sister, Carol Coombs.

Pallbearers are Russ Coombs, Clint Brokaw, Danny Hamilton, Curtis Neeley, Tim Thompson, and John Michael Thompson.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00am Monday, January 6, 2025 at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church with Scott Jones officiating. A committal service will be held at 2:00pm Monday, January 6, 2025 at Violet Hill Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00am Monday, January 6, 2025 prior to the service at the church.
