Gregory Warren Copley

of Conway, AR

May 3, 1955 - December 24, 2024

Gregory Warren Copley, The Life of the Party, died at age 69, on December 24, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home in Conway, Arkansas.
Greg is survived by his wife, Connie Copley, of Conway; son, Eric (Amanda) Copley, of North Little Rock; daughter, Amanda (Travis) Mulhearn, of Conway; daughter, Emily Copley (Sam) Nagher, of Conway; his grandchildren, Davis and Riley Mulhearn, Jackson and Eli Copley, and Evelyn and Birdie Nagher, brother, Gary Copley, Donna, of Cookeville, TN, sister, Brenda (the late Ronald) Grubbs, of Cookeville, TN, sister, Gloria (the late Steve) Presley, of Monterey, TN, and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cornell Hoyt and Jessie Copley, and granddaughters, Charlotte and Stella Mulhearn.
Greg was born in Dayton, Ohio, on May 3, 1955. He graduated as Mr. MHS from Monterey High School and met his wife of 48 years, Connie, at Lambuth College, where he received a bachelor's degree and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Greg worked with ABF freight, where he retired in Fort Smith after 37 years.
Greg's passions included his family, neighbors, and friends. He enjoyed playing golf and guitar, riding his motorcycle, and singing karaoke. Neighborhood kids came to ask Greg to throw the ball or see what he was working on in his garage long after his kids were grown. He was a magnet for love, friendships, and good times. He never met a stranger and felt that every single person mattered regardless of background.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Church Conway, Sunday, January 12 at 3pm. There will also be a celebration of life in Monterey, Tennessee on his 70th birthday, May 3, 2025. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Dear Connie and family, I can't imagine the loss you're feeling but pray for God's comfort for all of you. Greg was such a bright light and I always smile every time I think of him. He was always the same jovial
spirit and full of life never meeting a stranger. Just to be in the same room with him always made me feel happier and I'm quite positive that's the way he'll always be remembered by everyone that ever met him. Rest in peace my friend! You were truly one of the great and rare gems in life.

I met Greg at Lambuth College in the mid-70’s, when he was a freshman, then later becoming a fraternity brother.
He blessed me with the nickname “Conko from the Bunko,” later shortened to just “Conko,” a nickname I’m still known by today!”
Over the last few months we’ve relived many of the fun times, reminding each other of days gone by.
I look forward to seeing him again, knowing that our bond will grow ever stronger.
Greg is a good man, and he deserves all of the accolades laid at his feet. Connie picked a good man, and he picked a good woman for a lifetime of joy.
Let us not forget Connie in our prayers. Goodbye my friend — Conko

I could kick myself for not going to our last class reunion. Dear, sweet Greg. You were always so inclusive of me when I wanted to fade into the walls at school. There’s a picture in the yearbook of you, Debbie Walker, Marty, and myself. You had asked me to ride home with you guys after school in your Mustang! We stopped at the DQ and someone snapped a pic of our little group. I was there!! With the most popular kids!! And in a pic published in the annual!! It remains one of my most valued life moments. All because of you, Greg. We grew up together at Sand Springs. And to school together at MHS.
I will see you someday in Heaven.

A true legend and a heart of gold! I will forever be thankful for his generosity when my daughter had a fundraiser. Always the first to support the kids in the office and always had a smile on his face! He made a lasting impression on me for sure, but 10yrs later, my daughter still talks about Greg and the tootsie roll lollipop wrappers he had and gave her!! May his memory be a blessing- PJ (ABF Linehaul co-worker)
