of Searcy, AR
June 23, 1975 - December 31, 2024
Randy Dale Merrell, 49, of Searcy, AR left this earthly world ''for joys unknown'' on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. He was born in Searcy, AR on June 23, 1975. His parents are Ervin Leon Merrell and Jeanie Merrell-Peppers, both of Searcy.
Randy spent the first 7 years of his life as your typical child, full of joy and amazement and love for family and friends and his father God. His little house on Collison Avenue in Bald Knob hosted his neighbor friends and their transformers, Atari, In-Television and plain fun. At age 7, Randy's life was impacted by an acute monocytic leukemia cancer that was treated aggressively by Arkansas Children's Hospital for a 3-year protocol. Leukemia was defeated Praise and the awesome staff at ACH.
At age 10, Randy became a Child of God, led by Brother Guerry Moorer at Cleveland Street Church of Christ in Bald Knob. Later he was active with the First Baptist Church Choir in Searcy.
Randy was a High School Graduate from Bald Knob and began a series of local jobs in Searcy. Then, his health was failing because of the long-term leukemia treatments. He then spent several years at two different ICF's (Independent Care Facilities). Longwood ICF at Searcy and then moved closer to his mother at Westwood ICF in West Memphis, AR for nine years. As his health continued to decline, he moved back to Searcy to The Springs at Searcy for long-term care and closer to more friends and family.
Throughout Randy's entire life, he was totally devoted to his family and would frequently repeat, ''I love my family and my family loves me.'' His great faith and love for God, Jesus and Holy Spirit was evident to all who knew Randy. In fact, Brayden, his nephew, reminded us of what Randy said frequently about Jesus. He said, ''Jesus is my superhero. Some folks have Batman or Superman. I never saw any superhero be raised from the grave.'' --- but Jesus was raised from the grave!!
His favorite past times were visiting with others, watching comedy/romances, singing gospel songs to anybody who would listen. And, oh, how he loved clothes, exercise and food a lot, especially Bar-B-Que pizza!
Randy is survived by his dad and mother, Ervin Merrell and Jeanie Merrell-Peppers; one sister, Karen Merrell of Searcy, one nephew, Brayden Chesley; nieces, Sierra Reaper of Thida and Madison Siler of Bald Knob. There were more cousins from the Jonesboro area: Matthew & Darlene Leonard, Charley Turner, Timmy & Bobby Leonard and Trina Thompson Huckaby to name a few. Other cousins throughout Arkansas include Ginger & Jerry Rodger, Richard Bice, Jimmy & Alicia Bice, Gabby & Paul and many more aunts and uncles especially Aunt Etta Mae.
Preceded in his ''Journey to Joy'' by his grandparents, Roy and Fannie McMahan and Theodore and Elsie Merrell; his stepmom, Fern Merrell; his aunts and uncles, Willene, Florie and Jim, Joan and RL Leonard and Kathy and Leonard Luna.
