Joy Olree

of Searcy, AR

June 8, 1938 - December 29, 2024

Charlotte Joy Edwards Olree of Searcy, AR was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She passed from this world to her eternal reward on December 29, 2024 at the age of 86.

She was born to Garth Sharon ''Lum'' and Marjorie Edwards on June 8, 1938 in Memphis, TN and grew up mainly in Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri before graduating as valedictorian from Hayti High School in Hayti, MO. She married Harry Doyle Olree on June 3, 1957 in Hayti, MO. Later, she received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Harding University in Searcy, AR.

After teaching at the elementary and high school levels for a short time, she became a full-time homemaker and focused on raising her six children. She was a devoted wife and mother, putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She held strong convictions and enjoyed animated conversations about politics and religion.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harry Olree; six children, Donna Bruce, Debra McSpadden, Kenneth Olree, Brock Olree (all of Searcy, AR), Keith Olree (Madison, AL) and Karla Dalyrmple (Jacksonville, FL); 15 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and two brothers, James Edwards (Austin, TX) and Randell Edwards (Williston, FL). She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard Edwards.

There will be a private family burial at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the College Church of Christ building on January 2nd from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the mission efforts of the College Church of Christ in Searcy, AR where Joy was a member for over 60 years.
