Nancy Ellon (Shumate) Bonner, a loving sister, aunt, and grand aunt, passed away December 27, 2024, at the age of 78.
Nancy is survived by a brother, Richard Shumate (Bonnie) and a sister, Rebecca Shumate Cavender (Lowell) all of Conway, Arkansas.
Nancy's main occupation was artist, she worked at the chicken farm with Potter, Roger Allen and Painter, Rene Alvarado. She was a sculptress and made bronze horses and cattle. She also made jewelry and mixed media art. When she wasn't creating art, she was a teacher and a substitute in Dallas and Sherman, Texas.
Nancy loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her grandchildren. She was a loving and fascinating aunt of Amber German (Robert), Corey Shumate (Emily), Rick Shumate (Amanda), Seth Shumate (Mirna), Alissa Gormly (Josh), Brandon Shumate, Chandler Shumate, David Shumate, Clay Cavender (April), and Ever Cavender (Yousef) and many great-nieces and nephews. Some of her best memories during their childhood were visiting with Aunt Nancy.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Hurlbut; parents, John C. Shumate and Eva Corine (Doss) Shumate. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen Shumate (Diana) and Timoth Shumate (Kristy).
We will be spreading Nancy's ashes in early spring. The family will have a memorial at that time for family and close friends.
