Jo Ann Jackson, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2024 with her children by her side. She was born on November 8, 1941 in Harrisburg, Arkansas.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, George and Verna Clark; her nine cherished brothers and sisters; her beloved husband, Rex Jackson and her first husband, B.A. ''Shotgun'' Shoumake, the father of her children.
A woman of incredible strength and determination. Jo Ann was the heart and soul of her family. Her kindness, compassion and unwavering love for her loved ones were the foundation upon which her family thrived. She was always there for those she cared about, offering a steady hand and a warm heart. Jo Ann was known for her strength of will and once she set her mind to something, nothing could stop her. Her humor and infectious laughter lightened every room she entered, making her a joy to be around.
Jo Ann valued family above all else and leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations. As the rock of her family, she made sure her loved ones knew they were cherished. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in West Memphis, where she found strength and peace in her faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Sullivan of Marion, AR; her son, Jeff Shoumake of West Memphis, AR and her stepdaughter, Terry Fancher (Brian) of Horn Lake, MS. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Kelley Cook (Jonathan), Clark Sullivan (Sara), Allyson Raymond (Patric), Kory Fout (Timothy), Zach Shoumake (Brook), Kendall Fancher and Dallas Fancher. Jo Ann also leaves behind her fourteen great-grandchildren, Grayson, Hensley, Jack and Jones Cook, Kameron and Mirra Kampmeyer, Braxton Fout and William and Kenley Shoumake, MacKenzie Raymond, Xander Raymond, Natalie Raymond, Sadie Sullivan and Beau Sullivan. These precious great-grandchildren brought her so much joy and she was blessed to watch them grow and thrive.
Jo Ann is also survived by her two sisters, Linda (Hoppy) Martin of Wynne, AR and Helen McBroom of Jonesboro, GA and her brother, R.L. Clark of Turrell, AR. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
Jo Ann's legacy will live on through the lives she touched and the love she gave. Her family and friends will forever remember her for her fierce devotion, her caring nature and her unshakable strength. Though she is no longer with us, her love and memory will continue to guide and inspire all who knew her.
Sure did love this fiesty little lady! She was always pleasant and fun and friendly. She loved her family and her home. So sad to hear of her passing, I know we all will miss her terribly. Until we meet again Miss Jo, take your rest in peace, you so deserve it
Jeff and Julie, we are so saddened by the loss of your mom and my aunt, who I’ve loved as long as I’ve known her. She had such a loving spirit toward all. Our prayers for your entire families.
