Mr. Bill R. Self, age 84, of Bull Shoals, Arkansas, passed away at home on Thursday, December 19, 2024. Bill was born on June 7, 1940, to William and Vera (Thornton) Self in Holly Ridge, Louisiana. Bill was a veteran of the US Air Force serving 4 years between Washington State and Tripoli, Libya, where he met and married Trieneke, the love of his life. Together they enjoyed over 60 wonderful years of marriage. Their enduring love and commitment to one another were a source of inspiration to all who knew them.
Professionally, Bill worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers retiring after 30 years as the Chief Superintendent of Hydro Power at Bull Shoals Dam, Norfork Dam, and Greers Ferry Dam. His expertise and dedication were instrumental in the operations and success of the power plants. Beyond his professional achievements, Bill was a dedicated member of the Bull Shoals Lakeview Rotary Club serving a term as president, where he devoted much of his time and energy to community service. He served on the Flippin School board for 31 years and was the Voice of the Bobcats, announcing basketball game during his children's school years. His commitment to the church further demonstrated his unwavering dedication to helping others and giving back to his community. Bill served many years at UMC of Bull Shoals singing in the choir for 30 years at First Christian Church of Mountain Home and with First Baptist church of Flippin.
Bill's life was full and active - his favorite pastime was playing golf with his buddies. Soon after retiring, he worked with the Bank of Yellville and then Arvest Bank in Bull Shoals and Mountain Home doing customer service and radio promotions.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Trieneke; his children, Michael R. Self, David L. Self and wife Stephanie, and Adrienne Dea Self and partner Al Kennett; grandchildren, Daniel Self, John Rucker Self, Remington and wife Jana Self, Boone Self; brother, Raymond Self; sisters, Bobbie Miller and Barbara McGaha; and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Reverand William and Vera Self, brother Lynn Self, and sister Lola Kay Stutts.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, December 23rd, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be private.
Mr. Bill R. Self will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, dedication, and service will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Prayers being said for the family. Bill was a wonderful man. I worked with him at the Corp of Engineers when I got a job there through our High School program many years ago. He always had a smile, he was always so fun to talk to. He was a very caring man and he will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss.

I am very sad to hear of Bill’s passing. I grew up as his neighbor, and he was one of the most community-minded and public service-minded men I have ever known. A man to be admired and a role model for many. My condolences to his family and may God’s love give you comfort during this time.
Bill was a wonderful man who was always such a true gentleman and good friend. He always made us feel like we were family. He had the such love to share and we feel honored to have been in his life. This saddens me to hear of Bill’s passing. He was such a joy to be around all the years we went to First Christian Church together. Always loved his singing so much. He definitely made an impact wherever he was! He will be missed.

I was privileged to meet and get to know Bill through my sister Judy. I played golf with him a few times. He was such a personable and fun loving man. He will be missed by many. My heart goes out to his family. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

Mr. Bill will be missed for so many reasons; he always greeted me with a handshake and "Semper Fi Marine!"
