Clota Marie Wilson, 96, passed away on December 17th. Known as ''Monie'' to most, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered as a strong, faithful member of the Church of Christ (6th and Izard, now Windsong) and as a gentle, sweet, loving and fun woman who encouraged everyone around her. Clota was born on April 19th, 1928 to George and Pearl Watkins in Evening Shade, Arkansas. She graduated from Evening Shade High School and shortly thereafter began her 40+ year career as a hairstylist. She was a long time resident of Little Rock, until her short residency in Oklahoma to be with her daughter.

Clota was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings; as well as her husband of 61 years, Remmel Charles Wilson; her son, Remmel Wilson, Jr. and her daughter, Janet Wilson.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki and son-in-law, John Hunt. Monie was the beloved grandmother to 7: Berkeley, Monica, Jonathan, Robin, Elizabeth, Jason and Benjamin. Clota is survived by her brother-in-law, Patrick Wilson and his wife, Carolyn; her nephews, Ron, Patrick and Michael; her niece, Nancy; her daughters-in-law, Sandy and Beverly and her great nieces and nephews, Donna, Patty, Cheri, Kay, Rene, Greg, Billy and Richard. Stephanie Sullivan, a friend, is an honorary family member for her love and support to our family.

I have known the Wilson family since 1966. Janet (Clota Wilson’s daughter) was my best friend in junior high school. I would visit her home and Mrs.Wilson was such a wonderful hostess … she made all the kids feel right at home and I have fond memories of her little shop next door … always making the community look great with her hairstyles. We will miss her. Her smile was just the best. A great example of how to live life … smile and laugh your way through it! It’s the best medicine. Rest in peace, Mrs. Wilson, Love, Valerie

I didn't catch the obit in time to come to the funeral. One of my favorite memories is the wonderful sourdough bread she cooked and shared it with us "starving" CAP cadets. I can still taste the bread made from the 75 year old starter that she used. She always took care of us and treated us as family. I always enjoyed visiting with her while waiting on Janet to get ready to go to our meetings. Vicki, you should call me so we can catch up.

Aunt Clota was my great aunt but more like a grandmother to me. Her love has always been like a safe and warm blanket that she kept right next to her heart. She was full of unconditional love for all. She always imparted an example of the way Christ would have us live. I have always strived to follow in her footsteps. Aunt Clota will be missed by all those whose life she touched. She was brave, kind, and compassionate. Godspeed my dear aunt.

I met "Aunt" Clota through friends Cherie & Donna. I later became a neighbor and walked her dog sometimes. I checked on her now and then, but she invariably did me the most good. What a bright, gracious woman was Clota, I am thankful to have known her!
