of Batesville, AR
December 16, 1935 - December 16, 2024
Our beloved Ronald Albert Karg, Sr., age 89, was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on December 16, 2024 surrounded by family and friends. Poppie Ronnie was born on December 16, 1935 and graduated from Buchtel High School in Akron, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 64 years and high school sweetheart, Emily Sue (Anderson) Karg.
He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends; children, Ronald (Cristi) Karg of North Manchester, IN, Rebecca (Edward) McConnico of Keithville, LA, Julie (Tim) Dozier of Batesville, AR, Dorothy (Michael) Foley of Loveland, CO and Jennifer (Rodger) Wilt of Rockett, TX; grandchildren, Brett (Patricia Caraval) Wilt, Rachel Foley (Dave) Eads, Christopher Foley, Kessie (Nick Clark) Karg, Wendy (Cody Melton) Dozier, Emily McConnico, Jackson (Erin) McConnico, Max Karg and Natalie (Michael) Rawls; Great-grandchildren, Bradley, Wesley and Benjamin Eads and Mack Melton; his brother and devoted companion, Mike; sister, Joan Eileen; brother, Timand; many wonderful extended family members and friends and his loyal walking buddy, Border Collie, Maggie. Also preceding him in death were his parents, Dorothy Martin and Albert Karg; brother, David Karg and beloved grandson, Ryan Wilt.
Ron and Sue were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Batesville for over 20 years. He was a graduate of the University of Akron (BA) and Kent State University (MBA) and had a life-long career in the tire, pharmaceutical supplies and commercial service industry, with career advancements taking him and his family from Ohio to Indiana, Arkansas, Texas, Iowa and Illinois.
Ron was steadfast in his love of family and country. He was passionate about mentoring youth and an enthusiastic participant in community service such as elected official, CASA and literacy volunteer, Sunday School teacher and advocate for the indigent. At home, he was famous for his "life lessons disguised as work projects'', teaching his children, grandchildren and numerous other children the value of a strong work ethic. Our Poppie served in the Navy and most notably, was a U.S. Navy reservist, where he searched for foreign adversaries with the P3 Orion maritime surveillance team. Ron maintained a course to the great American dream. Like no other, he achieved it, with partner Sue, the full measure of obligations, duty, responsibilities fulfilled, all with extra measure. A great life, the great American dream, never done better.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM January 18, 2025 at the First Presbyterian Church, Batesville, Arkansas with visitation and reception to follow in the church's fellowship hall.
The Family would like to extend sincere heartfelt thanks for the loving care and expertise provided by the doctors, nurses and support staff at Batesville Family Practice, The White River Medical Center and the Searcy VA Clinic.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ryan Wilt Memorial Gymnasium Building Fund at Rockett Baptist Church (rockettbaptistchurch.org), the Children's Advocacy Center of Independence County (https://www.cacindependence.org) or K-9s for Warriors (k9sforwarriors.org).
