Doris L. Matal re-united with her husband in heaven when she died on December 12, 2024 in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
She was born in Veedersburg, Indiana on August 18, 1928. Her parents were Forrest H. and Donna E. (Childers) Colestock. They preceded her in death, as well as her sisters, Madge J. Strouse, Phyllis L. Mitchell, Natahlie C. Brunner and Carolyn L. Lindsey.

Doris married Maurice F. Matal in Hoisington, Kansas on May 24, 1946. He died September 29, 1999.
She is survived by one son, Forrest L. Matal of Oakland, Arkansas and several nieces and nephews.

Doris graduated from Hoisington High School in 1946, she then married Maurice and moved to San Francisco, California where her husband was stationed in the U.S Navy and they would spend the next 17 years.

After his retirement they made their home in Wichita, Kansas where Doris worked for the U.S Government for 30 years, retiring from the VA Center in 1984 as Chief of Accounting.

Doris enjoyed tole and china painting, as well as sewing. She and her husband enjoyed RVing and would spend their winters in the south. They moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1989 and enjoyed their time there. After Doris lost her husband in 1999, she moved to Odessa, Missouri in June 2002. In 2019 she moved to Bull Shoals, Arkansas to be near her only son, Forrest.

Memorials are suggested to the Heart or Cancer Fund or to the Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Our prayers are with Woody and his family. We haven’t known Doris very long, but the short time we grew very fond of her. She will be dearly missed.
