Elvin Duane Horton left this earth December 7, 2024. Born to Doyle and Irene Horton of Marshall on November 24, 1953, he was a lifelong resident of Searcy County. He made his home on Star Mountain not far from where he grew up and refused to leave it for very long.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Doyle and Irene Horton and one brother, Jerry Horton.
He is survived by two brothers, Darrell Horton (Cindy) of Marshall and James Horton (Jackie) of Marshall; four children, Crystal Horton of Marshall, Jermey Horton of Marshall, Courtney Brenaman of Harrison and Christian Ragland (Darren) of Leslie and six grandchildren, McKinsey Ward, Levi Alsobrooks, Addilyn Horton, Reese Ragland, Lyla Ragland and Gracyn Brenaman.
Elvin worked over forty years for the Searcy County School District where he could be seen driving the bus, working on the grounds and occasionally playing pranks on his coworkers. During his lifetime he made many friends and until his illness, enjoyed visiting with them drinking coffee at McDonalds or Harps. He liked fishing, working on his trucks and watching his hummingbirds and purple martins at home. He was a proud member of the military always wearing his camouflage hat and flying the American flag over his home. He always had a way with words and a willingness to help. He will be greatly missed by his friends and loved ones.
Funeral services for Elvin will be 1:00 PM Thursday, December 12th, 2024 at Northview Church in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Shane Horton officiating. Special music will be performed by Jesse Switzer and Darren Ragland. Visitation will be 12:00 till 1:00 preceding the service. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery in Marshall, Arkansas. Bearers will be James Horton, Darrell Horton, Jermey Horton, Thomas Horton, Darren Ragland and Levi Alsobrooks.
He was a great friend I will miss hem rip till we see you again

Grown up with Elvin was a lot of fun all of us cousin play together swing on grape vines I’ll never forget the time Elvin help uncle Benny climb The Sycamore tree it’s at the side of the house grandma Treat was really mad told us to get Benny out of that tree Elvin Tried to get Benny nope Benny wouldn’t come down Elvin said to me see if he’ll let you help him down so here I went up that old tree me and Elvin both got him down I’ll never ever forget that memory REST IN PEACE DEAR COUSIN we had great times sending prayers and Condolence to the Immediate family
