Jim Strobel, 83, of Lavaca, Arkansas passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024 in Ft Smith, Arkansas.
Jim was born July 16, 1941 in Paris, Arkansas to his parents, William Strobel and Elizabeth (Schriver) Strobel. He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and worked as a computer field engineer for IBM for several years until he retired. He then went to work at Strobel Auto Repair as a small engine mechanic. Jim loved to grow a garden and to travel with his family to different places, his most recent trip was to the Ark in Kentucky. There wasn't anything he wouldn't try to fix or build to help others.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Voncile (Whiddon) Strobel.
He is survived by his son, Kevin Strobel and wife, Elizabeth of Lavaca, Arkansas; a daughter, Rachel Strobel and husband, Robert Voepel of Lavaca, Arkansas; two brothers, Bro. Adrian Strobel of Subiaco Abbey and Billy Strobel of Subiaco, Arkansas; two sisters, Kate Simmons and husband, Gary of Paris, Arkansas and Betty Hall and husband, Gerry of Ratcliff, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Trystin Strobel and Jamysin Strobel, Katie and husband, Buddy Hawkins, Cameron Bonds; two great-grandchildren, Stevie Kate Hawkins and Jace James Hawkins; his dog, Paris; other family members and friends.
A rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Barling with funeral mass following the rosary at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery in Subiaco.
Funeral mass and rosary are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
Family and friends may come by to view and pay their respects to Jim Strobel from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2024 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Kurtis Simmons, Jeff Hall, Jason Hall, Gerald Strobel, Mike Strobel and Bobby Strobel.

Jim was such a wonders man! Kind to everyone! Always made you feel like a special friend! He was one in a million.
I am so sorry Johnny Strobel and I didn't get to visit Jimmy. We had planned a trip the first week or two of January but God had other plans. Jimmy was the kindest sole. There was not a bad bone in him. I will miss him so much.
A finer human being would be hard to find. God be with you Jimmy. I know you are with Him now.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time, I always enjoyed talking to Jimmy when I saw him in Subiaco, he will be missed.

It’s with a heavy heart & prayers to the Strobel family upon hearing of Jim passing. I only met him a few times but you could see the love he had for his family. I am proud to have met the man & veteran of this great country.
