Shirley Ann Carter (née Garrison), born on January 21, 1953 in Harrisburg, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024 in Columbia, Tennessee with her son, Brian by her side. She was 71 years old.

Shirley was the beloved daughter of the late Kennard and Retha ''O Retha'' Garrison. She spent the majority of her life in the Jonesboro and Lake City areas of Arkansas before relocating to Columbia, Tennessee two years ago. In 1971, Shirley met the love of her life, Gary Wayne Carter in Jonesboro, Arkansas. They married in 1972 and shared a full life together, raising three sons, Brian, Eric and Nathan. Shirley had many different careers in life and retired from Nestle in 2014.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Carter; her granddaughter, Erica Carter; her parents, Kennard and Retha Garrison and her siblings, Harold ''Wayne'' Garrison, Mary ''Sue'' Smith, Kenneth ''Kenny'' Garrison, Ronnie Joe ''Buddy'' Garrison, Betty ''Sissy'' Platt and Bobby Garrison.

Shirley leaves behind a loving family, including her sons and their spouses, Brian and Deanna Carter, Eric and Rachel Carter and Nathan and Chassidy Carter. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and her siblings, Bonnie Pulley, Helen Hancock, Virginia ''Jennie'' Loven, Barbara Womble, Peggy Hays, Eddie Garrison and George Garrison.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 between 1-2 p.m. at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 W. Washington Ave., Jonesboro, Arkansas, with a funeral service to follow beginning at 2 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Pinehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chayton Carter, Lance Carter, Kody Carter, Dylan Carter and Brant Carter, with honorary pallbearers Javon Bass and Joseph Mojanovski. Shirley will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
