of Benton, AR
July 1, 1930 - December 2, 2024
Alvah Earl Taylor, 94, of Benton went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 2, 2024. He was born in Benton on July 1, 1930. He was of the Baptist faith. He was an Army veteran. In his teens, he worked for Kroger in Benton. He would tell stories occasionally of his Kroger days and seemed to really enjoy the work and the people he came in contact with there. He retired from Alcoa and developed many close friendships there over the years. He enjoyed getting together with a few of them and going fishing pretty often. When he was between shifts at Alcoa or laid off for awhile, he would always find something to keep himself busy. He worked for George Himes some at his gas station, he drove a delivery truck for a local dry cleaners for a while, he built chain link fences for awhile, just to name a few. He had a wonderful green thumb. He landscaped the yard and built a greenhouse, where he grew beautiful plants and flowers. After retirement, he enjoyed raising a garden and maintaining his yard. He was very proud of his family. We all enjoyed his big strong hugs.
He was preceded in death by his mother and brother.
He is survived by his son, Al Taylor, Jr (Vickey) of Wills Point, Texas; two daughters, Renee Donnelly (Mike) of Benton and Paula Parish (Lenny) of Donaldson; grandchildren, Brittany Milligan, Josh Donnelly, Stacey Parish, Taylor Bear, Greg Parish, Lynette Smith, Matt Parish, Khristi Caddell, Michelle Torres, Eric Taylor, Ross Schmitt and Todd Schmitt; along with numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by all of us who love him, but we enjoy knowing that he is now at peace with our Lord and is no longer suffering.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 12:00 noon in the Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home Chapel.
Inurnment will follow the service at Old Rosemont Cemetery in Benton.
All arrangements are by Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home of Benton.
