George Kredell was born at the Naval Base in Hamilton, Bermuda to the late George Joseph and Anna Kredell. He grew up in Coco Solo, Panama Canal Zone and attended Cristobal High School (class of '66).
While on scholarship, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Texas in Austin. After graduation, he moved to Orlando, Florida where he became a police officer and met the love of his life, Connie Lofton.
George and Connie moved to Texas where he received a Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston Law School in 1976. Throughout his legal career, George worked as a prosecuting attorney in Fort Worth, TX and was the youngest appointed, then elected, Judge of the 213th Criminal District Court, where he served for 6 years. After leaving the bench he established a private practice and retired in 2014.
George was remarkably intelligent, an avid reader, a trivia expert and a history buff. He had a compassionate heart and could make everyone laugh with his incredible sense of humor. George loved playing with his grandchildren and great-nephew. He was especially proud that his son served and retired from the Air Force as an EOD operator and loved telling the stories of his exploits. George passed away at the age of 76 after a ten-year battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Connie (Lofton); son, Matthew Kredell and his wife, Rebecca; their children, Piper, Boden and Ronan; nephew, Paul Lofton and niece, Ashley Coleman husband, Clay and son, Owen. He is survived by three brothers and two sisters, Mike (Kathy), Mark (Holly), Sam, Marian (Gary), Kathleen and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Robert.
Connie, Matt know that I am holding you all in my prayers as you grieve and I look forward to celebrating Steve's life in June.
