On March 12, 1947, George W. Ames, 77, was born to Jesse Aaron Ames and Effie Beatrice Ames in Lepanto, Arkansas.
George was a farmer from such a young age until 1988. In 1988 he was employed by Jefferson County Road and Sanitation Departments until he retired in 2003.
George married the love of his life, Mary Ann Ames on June 1, 1978.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Ames and Effie Ames; his beloved wife, Mary Ames; Brother, Estee Ames; sister, Betty Gray and sister-in-law, Regina Ames.
He is survived by daughters, Angela Ames and Jessica Collins of White Hall, Arkansas; stepsons, Ray Taylor and David Taylor of Star City, Arkansas; grandsons, Kayden Collins of White Hall, Arkansas and David Austin Taylor of Star City, Arkansas; brothers, James Ames, Jimmy Ames, Charles Ames (Gina) of White Hall, Arkansas; sisters, Joyce Mullins (Mike) of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Doris Manning of Cape Coral, Florida and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Roller England Funeral Home in England, Arkansas (501) 842-3939. Visitation will be Monday, November 11th at 10:00 A.M. followed by graveside services in Flat Bayou Cemetery at 11:00 A.M.
