Ted was not only our family physician and neighbor for many years, Ted was the very first person I met when we moved to Nevada City in 79 from SoCal. I had found his dog “Sam” his loyal collie on Spring Street that I was in the process of claiming to be mine. Instead my find turned into a 45+ year family friendship. Ted was a lifetime advisor of mine, a dear friend of mine, incredible author, a perfect palate for a beautifully aged Napa red, a completer of the renowned Western States 100 mile Endurance Run, a GI Bill, Army trained incredible physician that made house calls when we were running 102 temps as kids. Ted deeply loved our beautiful country and Constitution! Ted Kendall was a true friend, the first person I met in Nevada City, a renaissance man, and the best childhood doctor a kid could ask for! I was saddened deeply when Paul Eelkema shared the terrible news of Ted our friend crossing over. Cheers to you, Ted! Well done is an understatement!

Dr. Kendall took care of our family for many years, what a wonderful man, and his wife Jan, always smiling and full of energy in their busy office. They are together again after all of this time. Just a few years ago I spoke with him quite unexpectedly during a business call. He was as bright as ever and excited to chat, as if little time had passed. He touched many hearts during his time on earth, bless your soul Doc K, our community has missed you for years, may you rest in awesome peace.

Dr. Kendall is was one the kindest people as well as a great doctor! He was the only doctor I have ever had that came out to the waiting room to greet you and never kept you waiting. He always went the extra step and in my case met my husband and me at his office after hours when I was ill.
The world is a sadder place without him.

Doc Kendall delivered my oldest son in 1963 in Orange County, CA. He was a wonderful doctor. I lost track of him in 1965 after my 2nd son was born, being told that he had left the area. But in 1976 I found him practicing in Nevada County, CA, quite by accident. We had purchased property in the area and while building a house my son needed a doctor and we wanted to avoid the ER so were referred to him. I didn't recognize him with a handlebar mustache, cowboy boots and Levis!!! But his voice was the same. We kept in touch off and on after that and our last conversation was a couple of months ago. He spoke of wanting to write another book about language and how words have changed.
He was quite a man.
Sincerely,
Ann Driver

The world is a poorer place without Ted.
Not only was he my primary doc for awhile, but he and his running buddy Barry Turner (who was my dentist) co-conspired to found the American Medical Joggers Association. When they took that group for a 3-day, 100-mile, off-road run through precipitous California canyons, they looped me in to feed the gang a couple different years. My, what an adventure!
He was a top-notch "Marcus Welby-style" doctor, and a special man.

My heart is so sad that Ted has passed away. He took such good care of my family for so many years in Grass Valley, CA. He also jumped into my ambulance more than once when I was an EMT-Paramedic to go on a call or transfer a patient. Such a dear man & mentor. My life & career were better for having him as a friend, a doctor, & a colleague. I will miss my dear friend, and my family will never forget him.
Our condolences to his family.

Oh I was very sorry to hear that we lost Ted. I loved that man’s zeal for life. His stories of his medical career. We had one thing in common “MOVIES”. We were always asking did you see that movie. He also was an author of several books. Sweet Ted always smiling. I miss my lovely friend.
