Herman D Voegele, Jr., 93, of Fort Smith, Arkansas formally of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away from this life, Sunday, October 27, 2024 in Fort Smith. Herman was born November 5, 1930 in Dequency, Louisiana to his parents, Herman D. Voegele, Sr and Roselee (Davis) Voegele.
He obtained a Bachelor's degree from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and a bachelor's degree of Divinity from South Western Seminary college in Fort Worth, Texas. Herman was the Pastor of Hillside Baptist Church in Camden for twelve years then became the Pastor of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Little Rock until he retired in 1978. He then went to work for Roller Funeral Homes in the insurance sales department where he sold burial insurance policies and life insurance. Herman loved to visit people, he could always be found talking to somebody when he went for a walk, a ride on his bike or just as he was passing by, he was a very outgoing and social person. Herman loved to spend his free time at the lake fishing on his Bass Tracker boat or just cruising around on his pontoon boat with his family. He and his wife, Bernice loved to plant a vegetable garden each year and they enjoyed beautifying their yard with flowers and making homemade orange crush or vanilla ice cream.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John Voegele and two sisters, Doris Pruitt and Mary Boucher. Herman is survived by his wife of seventy-two years, Bernice (Graves) Voegele of the home; a son, David Voegele and wife, Desiree of Purceville, Virginia; two daughters, Susan Kennedy and husband, Billy of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Trudy Ray of Little Rock, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Chris Kennedy, Nick Kennedy, Laura Beth Vail, Ashley Sledd, Holly Childs, Hunter Voegele, Elaine Bennett and Logan Voegele; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many other family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Greenwood First Baptist Church officiated by Bro. Ronnie Deal.
There will be a private family interment at Riverwood Memorial Gardens at a later date and time. Funeral arrangements and interment is under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Chris Kennedy, Nick Kennedy, Tyson Kennedy, Kolin Elrod, Kadin Childs and David Voegele.
