John M. Tidwell 93 years, 10 months, 3 weeks
Some would say he was a slip of a man, small, lean, and oh, so young at heart. John M. Tidwell born December 1, 1930, in Tyronza, Arkansas faded quietly from this life looking hopefully and joyfully to his eternal home on October 28, 2024, at 1:55 PM. Lovingly surrounded by his family over the last few days, and still tapping his feet to Red River Valley, until the last lingering note.
John is proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Joann (McGuire) Tidwell, his father Marcus M. Tidwell, his mother Mary Beatrice (Pollard) Tidwell, and three older sisters Bay Martin, Frances Miller, and Juanita Tacker.
He is survived by a sister Clara Barnes, his two sons Mark (Tracy) Tidwell and Tony (Kathy) Tidwell, four Grandchildren: Kassy (Darren) Eason, Amy (Jeremy) Champlin, Zach (Morgan) Tidwell, and Ashley (Johnathon) Shick, seven Great Grandchildren: Kaleb Eason, Hannah Eason, Stuart Champlin, Levi Champlin, Connor Champlin, John D (Jack) Tidwell and Beau Tidwell, many nieces, nephews and friends that he loved dearly.
If you knew John, you know the twinkle in his eye along with his mischievous smile were hard to miss and endeared others to him. He served his country in the United States Air Force with pride and worked for the US Fish and Wildlife Service and various maintenance and construction jobs. He was always busy, hunting, fishing, and flying in his younger days and was the self-proclaimed family photographer. He loved people and loved attention and knew how to draw people in by his jokes or playing his harmonica.
John was a character, but he was our character. He'll be greatly missed but his memory will be kept alive around the dinner table and in our hearts for generations to come.
