I served in the Air Force.

Paul Roy Oberly Jr.

of Proctor, AR

March 13, 1943 - October 28, 2024

Paul R. Oberly Jr, age 81, of Proctor, Arkansas passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024 at home surrounded by family. He was born March 13, 1943 in Easton, Pennsylvania to Paul and Ruth Oberly. He worked as an International Service Engineer and retired from WCB Ice Cream (suspected by family to be the CIA) after more than 50 years of service in the 'food processing' industry. Paul traveled the globe and worked on every continent except for Antarctica.

Paul served four years as an Airman in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Church of God and had served as Sunday School superintendent and teacher for both teens and young adults. In his younger years, he was a dedicated Boy Scout leader and member of the Gideon Bible Society. Paul enjoyed vacationing with his family and friends, watching a good stock car race, and solving crossword puzzles. He also liked to tinker around in the garage and could create just about any type of gadget imaginable. One of his greatest joys in life was making people laugh, and he absolutely loved a good prank.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister (RuthAnn), and brother (David).

Paul is survived by his wife of 61 years, LaVera Henderson Oberly; daughters Sheila Baker (Hugh) of Spring Hill, Florida, Pamela (Robert) Higginbotham of Portage, Indiana, Karla (Mike) Steele of Lake Village, Indiana, and Megan (Nolan) Martin of Proctor, Arkansas, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family will be at 2pm on Friday, November 1st at Roller Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, Arkansas with a funeral service at 3pm. Reverend Gregory Robertson will be officiating. Burial will follow on Saturday, November 2nd at Oak Grove Cemetery at 2pm in Searcy, Arkansas with Reverend Danny Henderson officiating.

LaVera and family,
I am so sorry for the terrible loss of Paul (Bootie). I loved our family get-togethers, he and Dave were so funny and I loved their sense of humor.
It was always fun when you all visited us, I always asked you to stay longer and Bootie always said ok.
I am so proud to have had Bootie as a brother-in-law.
I know he loved his family very much and he will be missed so very much! I love you all and you all are in my prayers.
I am very sorry I won’t be there.
RIP Bootie, family get-togethers won’t be the same. You are now with your parents, Ruthann and Dave.
