James "Kenny" Kenneth Shollmier

of Little Rock, AR

September 30, 1939 - October 16, 2024

James Kenneth ''Kenny'' Shollmier, 85, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away October 16, 2024. He was born September 30, 1939 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to the late Juanita (Dean) and Otto Shollmier. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Moritz, Richard and Roger Shollmier.

Ken is a member of the Second Presbyterian Church. He graduated from the University of Arkansas and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Ken was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard of Arkansas and as a Reserve of the Army in 1969. Upon graduation, Ken was employed by Whit Stephens of Arkla Gas in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. A few years later, he was hired by Frank Lyon in Little Rock where he remained until Mr. Lyon sold the company in the 1980's.

In 1989, Ken and his family moved to New Orleans, Louisiana after purchasing the Carrier HVAC distributorship for Louisiana and Mississippi. In operation for 20 years, Shollmier Distributing, Inc. (SDI) was named one of the Top 50 Private Companies in the Gulf Coast area for 10 consecutive years, eventually expanding distribution into more HVAC brands, a manufacturing company and a financing company. Ken also served as the
President of the National Distributor Council.

Ken remained a loyal supporter of the University of Arkansas throughout his life and wanted to return to Little Rock in his retirement. After retiring back to Little Rock, Ken developed Beau Vue Estates and Beau Rivage real estate developments.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lindasue Shollmier; his son, Erik Shollmier; his daughter, Tracy Abston and husband Rodney, all of Little Rock; granddaughters, Amalie and Layla Shollmier both of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and a brother, Dud Shollmier of Little Rock.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1-3pm, Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Second Presbyterian Church parlor.

I worked for Ken and Lindasue at SDI from the time they bought the Carrier distributor to the time they sold it back to Carrier. Ken and LindaSue were outstanding employers and treated me and my wife Joan with the utmost kindness and respect. We have fond memories of those years, including the wonderful dealer trips that we were included on.
LindaSue, Erik, Tracy, and Brian please know that Joan and I have Ken and the Shollmier family in our thoughts and prayers. May Ken rest in peace and may the good Lord, bring peace and comfort to the entire family

God richly bless Ken and the Shollmier family.
