Dalfred D. Caldwell ''Dal'', age 88, passed from this life at his home in Dunnellon, Florida on October 21, 2024. Dal was born March 6, 1936, in Shirley, Arkansas on the Caldwell Homestead in the Pleasant Valley Community. He was the son of James H. ''Hollet'' and Myrtle (Nelson) Caldwell. He attended Shirley Elementary School before the family relocated to Olney, Illinois. Dal developed a lifelong friendship with some of his classmates.
Dal served in the U.S. Army led an adventurous life which included working with his brother, James at Caldwell Pet Supplies, a distributor of Hartz Mountain Pet Products in Lafayette, Indiana. He spent several years working in the oil fields in Saudi Arabia and was owner and operator of Caldwell Deep Well Drilling, contracted in both Costa Rica and Florida for many years. He also owned and maintained rental property in Dunnellon, Florida.
Dal was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Elmer U. Caldwell (Rhoda), James A. Caldwell (Helen) and one niece, Jan Lane and husband Mike.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Glenn D. Caldwell (Gwen) and family of Ocala, Florida, sister, Mackey E. Selbig (Ken) Of Scottsdale, Arizona, nephews and nieces; Jim Caldwell (Marilyn), Brian E. Webster (Allison), Stacey L Woodsum (Shaun), Linda Hughes, Shirley Arehart (Ralph), Pat Lewis (Steve)and a host of great nephews, nieces, cousins and friends throughout the country.
A visitation was held Friday, October 25th in Ocala, Florida. Local visitation will be Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton, Arkansas. Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Bradford Cemetery in the chapel on Highway 16 E, Shirley, Arkansas with nephew Brian Webster officiating.
The family will gather at the home of a cousin, Nova Caldwell Scroggins at 108 Middle Street, Morrilton, Arkansas and also spend time at the Caldwell Homestead at 513 Oakvale Road in Shirley, Arkansas.
