Homer R. Yawn

of Harrison, AR

March 20, 1933 - October 18, 2024

Homer R. Yawn, age 91, of Harrison, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, with his family by his side at home. He was born March 20, 1933, in Lenox, Georgia to Samuel and Almeda Yawn.

Homer was a member of Bear Creek Springs Baptist Church. He married Sara Yawn on June 1, 1957, in Norcross, Georgia. He retired as general manager of Rock-Tenn in Harrison after 42 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing, and hunting small game and birds. He also enjoyed gardening with Sara and woodworking. He grew peanuts and made a big deal of boiling them in August and September and giving them to family. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially in the pool. He was proud of each one of them. He had a great sense of humor and was a people person.

He is survived by his son, Tim Yawn and his wife, Susan of Rogers, Arkansas; and two daughters, Connie Y. Paden and husband, Tim of Mtn. Home, Arkansas and Lori Boaz and husband, Rob of Berryville, Arkansas; and his sister, Estelle Davis, of Gilbert, South Carolina.

Homer is also survived by his grandchildren, Adam Yawn of Erie, Colorado, Michael S. Yawn of Fayetteville, Laura Yawn of Rogers, Arkansas, Michael C. Paden of Springfield, Missouri, Lucas Paden of Fayetteville, Ashlyn Paden of Mtn. Home, Arkansas, Abby Brown of Berryville, Arkansas, Kailey Helmlinger of Berryville and Zach Boaz of Berryville; and his great-grandchildren, Aaron, Micah, and Elizabeth Yawn of Erie, Olivia Helmlinger of Berryville, Hope and Carson Brown of Berryville and Luca Yawn of Fayetteville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sara; and his son, Michael H. Yawn.


Visitation was on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Bear Creek Springs Baptist Church.

The funeral service was on Wednesday at Bear Creek Springs Baptist Church, with Jake Johnson officiating.

The interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Michael Paden, Lucas Paden, Adam Yawn, Michael Scott Yawn, Zach Boaz, Seth Helmlinger, Austin Brown and Jackson Braun

Honorary Pallbearers were Steve Dillon, Wes Davidson, and Sam Kekaha

Homer and I worked together when he was on the bank board. He was very supportive of me and provided good advice the years we worked together. One fond memory of Homer was he always had the cleanest car in town. I believe he had it washed every Friday! A good man that will be missed.
