June 25, 1933 - October 12, 2024

Joel Wooten passed away peacefully with his family at his home in Brighton, Tennessee at the age of 91. He was born in the small community of Rondo, Arkansas to his parents, Henry Howard and Mae Alice Wooten and was one of 11 children. He graduated from Rondo High School in 1951 and was an awesome basketball player. After graduating he moved to Memphis, Tennessee and worked at Velsicol Chemical for 42 and a half years before retiring. In 1956 he married Clara June Scott and they were together for 68 years and had 3 children, until his passing. He was a member of the National Guard for 8 years. During his life he was a master barber that owned several barber shops. He had the gift that he never met a stranger and loved being around people including family, friends and an abundance of nieces and nephews and all were crazy about him. He loved his family and always had some type of hobby, whether it is raising rabbits, quails, chickens or worms, he loved every minute of it. He is survived by his wife, Clara June Scott Wooten; his daughter, Terry (Raymond) Rodgers of Munford, Tennessee and two sons, Danny Wooten of Brighton, Tennessee and Russell Wooten of Clarksville, Tennessee; four grandchildren, David Murley of Ripley, Tennessee; Josch (Whitney) Kramer of Drummonds, Tennessee; Conner and Nikki Wooten of Clarksville, Tennessee and three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Joschua and Tyler Kramer of Drummonds, Tennessee; one sister, Lillie Mae Fry of Cherokee, Alabama and two brothers, Albert Wooten of Vineyard, Arkansas and Harry Wooten of Hot Springs, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by five brothers, Lamar, Herman, Henry, Jr., Walter and Irvin Wooten and two sisters, Ona Mae Griffith and Elizabeth (Liz) Jones.
He will be deeply missed but we know he is always with us and watching over us in Heaven.

Joel was an awesome friend. Remember him especially growing up, he lived around the corner from us. Joel and my Father worked together at Vesicol and were great friends. Him and Clara were great jitter bug dancers. His smile and laugh were contagious,
