Billy Joe Johnson

of Pangburn, AR

May 26, 1946 - October 8, 2024

Billy Joe Johnson, 78, of Pangburn, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday evening, October 8, 2024 at Unity Health Medical Center in Searcy from a lengthy battle of health issues. He was born on Sunday, May 26, 1946 in Searcy and remained in the White County area his entire life.

Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his mother, Gearldine Harris; his grandparents who raised him as their own, Tom and Annie Harris; along with several siblings. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years, Judy Janell Chaney Johnson; two daughters, Kim Rebhahn of Pangburn and Betty Atkins of Searcy; three grandchildren, Kelsey (Scott) Burleson, Blake Atkins and Drake Atkins; along with two great-grandchildren, Treyton and Kaycen Burleson who were the apples of his eye; six sisters, Betty Sue Dunn, Leatrice White, Beatrice Skaggs, Sarah Cole, Darlene Roderick and Barbara Henson along with other extended family members and many friends.

He went to school at Griffithville School District and moved to the Pangburn area where he raised his family. He went to work for the Pangburn School District, where he worked as the Maintenance Supervisor for 18 years, when he retired to work on his farm and do other work around the area. He could fix anything that anyone needed fixing and enjoyed helping others when he could. He went to Pangburn Baptist Church for many years while his girls were growing up and loved working with the young people and he went on several Mission Trips. He later went to the McJester Baptist Church and was attending there if his health allowed. He loved to hunt and fish as much as he could and always made a garden big enough to feed a big portion of the community. He had to be busy with something and he would often times have his little shadow with him.

His favorite thing to do was to be with his family. He loved it when his grandchildren and especially when his great-grandchildren were there and he could and did take his great-grandson fishing and hunting every time he got a chance. His grandchildren and great grands were thought to be his shadows and stayed right with him.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2024 with Visitation to be at 1:00 PM and the Celebration of Life to be at 2:00 PM all at the Roller-Daniel Funeral Home Chapel in Searcy. Interment will follow at Howell Cemetery in Clay. All services are under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, Searcy, AR.

I am so sorry to hear about Bill. He was always available to help with anything the teachers needed at school and he always had a funny story to tell while he was helping. I know he will be missed by all who knew him.

Bill was someone that everyone loved to be around! He took a special interest in ALL kids and they loved to do things with him. I remember catfishing, picking the garden, feeding the rabbits, making mud pies, and enjoying Judy’s and Dorothy’s good food while staying at their home as a child. Definitely some memories that will last a lifetime were made possible because of this wonderful man. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know him.

What a wonderful man that Heaven is gaining. He always put a smile on my face. Our family had many great memories of travel and friend gatherings! One that stands out the most was our family trip to St. Louis, Mr. Bill was not too fond of the Arch! We always laughed about that memory. Love this family as my own!

As fine a man that ever drew a breath on Earth. Never heard anyone say a mean thing about him. The world sure needs a lot more men like him . Be a much better place. He brought happiness to everyone he ever met or knew.
