of Conway, AR
October 25, 1939 - October 4, 2024
Earl Stranton Glover was born on October 25, 1939, in Guy, Arkansas to Loy Glover and Floy Dixon Glover. He grew up in Damascus, Arkansas and graduated from Southside High School. He attended Arkansas State Teachers College (now University of Central Arkansas) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business. In 1962, Earl married Sue Cheek of Conway, Arkansas and they have two daughters Lisa Glover Golden and Lana Glover (Kevin). They have one granddaughter, Ashley Godwin. Earl attended Draughon School of Radio and TV and serviced televisions in Little Rock for a short time before accidentally getting into the commercial printing industry.
After college graduation, he was employed by the Arkansas State Department of Education in the Federal Programs Division as Assistant Supervisor of Finance. He was later promoted to Supervisor of Finance. After eight years, he left to become the administrator of a newly formed multi-physician practice clinic where he equipped and staffed the first outpatient Surgery suite in Arkansas.
Earl always wanted to be in the home building business, so he left the medical clinic and formed a construction company to build custom homes in West Little Rock. He liked to say everyone who bought a home from him called him a friend (except one and he said Earl was a good builder).
He was active in civic and hobby associations. Earl was awarded the Outstanding First Year Jaycee and received the Key Man Award. He went through all the offices of the Greater Little Rock Builders Association and sat on the Arkansas Home Builders State Association Board of Directors. After reaching the maximum age to be a Jaycee, Earl joined the Forest Hights Lions Club and was a member for 27 years where he served as president. He also served as the ACE International Chairman of the Board.
Earl believed that everyone should have a hobby and something to look forward to in addition to a working career. He was a bass fisherman for several years and had four trophy-sized fish mounted. Then in 1992 while returning from a trip to Dallas, Texas, he heard that there was a model airplane show at the University Mall. He went to look at the exhibits and the next Monday began his hobby in radio-controlled airplanes. He enjoyed building and flying RC airplanes and belonged to three RC clubs but did most of his flying at the Mid Arkansas Radio Control Society (MARCS). Because of back problems that prevented him from continuing flying model airplanes in 2008, he chose to become an Amateur Radio Operator (HAM Radio). Earl proceeded through three levels of licensure to hold an extra classification to become a volunteer examiner. Earl was a member of several HAM radio clubs until retirement, after which, he retained a membership to Central Arkansas Radio Emergency Net (CAREN) and Faulkner County Amateur Radio Club.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11:00am at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Visitation will begin at 10:30am, prior to the service.
Floy Glover was one of my favorite cousins. I knew her sons, Earl and Jimmy, when we were children. As adults we didn’t stay in touch. So sorry to learn about Earl’s death, but looks like he lived a very successful life. I would have attended his service had I known in time. My sympathy to his family. C.W.

I was in the Lion's club with Earl for a number of years and always appreciated his good humor and dedication to helping others less fortunate than himself. He was an outstanding individual, one of those types that only come along once in a lifetime and I'm very sorry to hear of his passing.

Earl was a one of a kind. Always smiling, always happy. I met him and his wife at the C.A.R.E.N. club Saturday lunches and he was always happy, smiling and enjoyed having lunch with his friends. You could always count on him to be a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. He will be missed.
