Ama Jean Hoffman, age 91, of Conway passed away September 18, 2024. Ama Jean was born January 4, 1933 in Naylor, Arkansas to the late Virgil and Virgie (Arnett) Williams.
Ama Jean graduated from Batesville High School in 1951. She entered the United States Navy for three years. She was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia where she met her beloved husband John Hoffman. After she and her husband moved to New York, she became a secretary for the Suffern School District. She helped to organize and manage Suffern Central's Continuing Education Department for many years.
In her later years, Ama Jean and her husband moved back to Arkansas to retire. She became an active member of St. Joseph's Church. She was a strong supporter of the St. Joseph Bazaar and St. Joseph Schools.
Preceding her in death are her parents and two brothers, Virgil ''Chick'' Williams, Jr. and Bobby Ray ''Cotton'' Williams.
Survivors include her son, John Hoffman Jr. (Debbie) of Incline Village, Nevada; daughter, Lisa Adams (Doug) of Vilonia, Arkansas and daughter, Susan Lawrence of Vilonia, Arkansas. Grandchildren include granddaughters, Laurel Hoffman-Mazzoni (Emanuele) of Austin, Texas; Brigitte Hoffman of Manhattan Beach, California; Abby Adams of Suffern, New York; Ryan Lawrence of Conway, Arkansas and Julia Lawrence-Cumnock (Jeff) of Conway, Arkansas. Ama Jean had two great grandchildren, Ayden and Addyson, who were the loves of her life. Ama Jean's life was a testimony of love for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her faith.
A visitation/rosary will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 6:30 PM in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Conway, Arkansas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 11:00 with Fr. Daniel Wendel as celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph's Mausoleum under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Conway.
