November 12, 1938 - September 18, 2024
Billie Ronald ''Ronnie'' Houston, 85, of Jonesboro, AR passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at St. Bernards Hospital in Jonesboro, AR. The following obituary was written by his children.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father and devoted husband, Ronnie Houston, at the age of 85. Ronnie left this world peacefully on September 18th, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on November 12, 1938, Ronnie's journey began when he met his then-wife Nola Houston in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Together, they raised five wonderful children: three boys-Doug, Sam and Billy Houston-and two girls-Paula Jane and Kari Sue Houston. Later in life Ronnie welcomed Lisa Clock as his daughter and as a sibling to his children.
Ronnie's love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and he took great pride in his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
As a dedicated truck driver for Farmland Foods, Ronnie drove over 5 million miles without a single accident, a testament to his commitment to safety and excellence in his work. He was a hardworking provider, living by the principles laid out in 1 Timothy 5:8, believing that taking care of one's family is a sacred duty.
Ronnie was a Christian who loved the Lord God Almighty and Jesus who was baptized in the Jordan River, as did Ronnie on one of his several trips to Israel. Jesus gives us this promise from Scripture in Mark 16:16 ''Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.''
It was because of this deep belief that Ronnie chose to be baptized in the same river Jordan as Jesus Christ.
His faith guided him in every decision and action, and he lived a life of generosity and kindness, touching the hearts of all who knew him. His unwavering support and gentle spirit made him a beacon of hope and strength for his family.
In his later years Ronnie rekindled a friendship from high school and later married her. Ronnie and Rosie have been married for the last 10 years. Ronnie Houston was a man of integrity and honor.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Alexander and Virgie Dona Houston; a son, Ronald Douglas Houston; a grandson, Jason Allen; and 4 sisters, Vernodene Pierson, Imogene Niell, Martha Sue Fielder, and Charlsie Smith.
Left to cherish the memories of Ronnie are his loving wife, Rosie; sons Sam (Lori) Houston and Billy (Magally) Houston; daughters Paula (Boyd) Allen, Lisa (Steve) Munoz, and KariSue (Kent) Johnson; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and many friends, family and loved ones.
Chapel services will be 2 pm, Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.
Visitation will precede the service and begin at 1 pm.
Honored to serve as honorary pallbearers are Sam Houston, Billy Houston, Boyd Allen, Steve Munoz, Kent Johnson, Shane Allen, and Ben Guldberg.
I was so sorry to hear of Ronnie‘s death. He was a good neighbor and helper to Bob and I. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.
In sympathy

When I moved into the neighborhood I knew no one.
Ronnie and Rosie were the first to welcome me.
Ronnie was such a sweet and gentle person.
I was blessed to know him not only as my favorite neighbor but as a dear friend.
I’ll miss that friendship beyond measure.
Not to mention how special he and Rosie made me feel with baked goodies, garden vegetables and the beautiful roses from their yard.
If I’m lucky enough to get to heaven I’ll be looking for you .
It was an honor and a privilege to be your caretaker til the end Dad. All you were going through and yet you managed to have a positive attitude and your humble sense of humor. I will never feel alone because you are and will always be in my heart. Til we meet again your #1 daughter
