Jim was born in Dear, Arkansas on February 10, 1950 and was adopted by Paul and Jewel Peterson. After Graduating High School, Jim joined the Marines and fought in the Vietnam War. Where upon his return he was medically discharged. He worked in the construction field for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, bird watching, always enjoyed every aspect of nature. He also liked going to the Casinos, he said to just look at all the pretty lights. He loved having BBQ at his house and having all his family and friends around. Watching his Grandkids and Great Grandkids playing and laughing was the highlight of his years. He also enjoyed going to the local café to have breakfast with his buddies.

Jim is survived by his brother, Roger Peterson of Lonoke, Arkansas and his sister, Edna Spurlock of West Memphis, Arkansas. Jim was blessed with three wonderful children. He is leaving a Legacy of Love and Kindness on this Earth with his daughters, Diana ''Misty'' (Tony) Peterson of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Danielle (Andre) Canty of Jacksonville, Arkansas and son, James (Patty) Peterson of Alexander, Arkansas.
Jim was a Proud PawPaw to Chasity Peterson, Kristen (Dequan)Thomas, Tiffany Canty, Brittany Peterson, Alexis (Jordan) Jenkins, Shayla Golden, Mckade Peterson, Parker Peterson and Brian Woolley.
Jim was an even prouder Great PawPaw to Isiah Thomas, Chloe Thomas, Julien Thomas, Diana Whitlock, Christopher Whitlock, Kendrall Womack and Harmonee Shirlee.
Jim also left behind a special friend that didn't leave his side through sickness and in health, Gail Isneman, as well as many close friends and extended family members.

Jim was preceded in death by his Loving Parents, Paul and Jewel Peterson and two brothers, Dale Peterson and Mark Spurlock that were there to meet him at the Pearly Gates and welcome him home.
Jim wasn't one to want a huge fuss made for him and asked that we have a Graveside Service only for him. The service will be held with Military Honors at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, 1501 West Maryland Ave, North Little Rock, Arkansas, 72120 on September 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. followed by lunch at Jim's house provided by his family. I talked to Jim after he was released from the hospital a little over a week ago. When I asked how he was doing. He said, It is what it is. Those words told me, he was leaving us very soon.

We had breakfast many times over the years, plus grilling steaks outside on his porch for lunch, while playing dice. He enjoyed hunting and playing pool. He loved his property and his truck too.

Jim was a awesome sweet friend. He was kind hearted. When I was down and alone, he would call to check on me, and invite me over.

Never think you have time to see someone, God takes them when he is ready, not when your ready.

I miss his big hugs and forehead kisses. He was so loved.

Condolences to Jim's family and friends. Praying for comfort and peace furing this difficult journey.
