I served in the Army.

Larry DavisI am a Veteran.

of Batesville, AR

September 24, 1934 - September 10, 2024

Larry Davis, 89, of Batesville passed away September 10, 2024.

He was born September 24, 1934 in Jonesboro to Charles Roscoe Davis and Eula Mae (Daniels) Davis.

Larry was a veteran of the US Army and was an Electronic Technician for Southwestern Bell for 28 years and was also a rural mail carrier. He loved sports, played basketball, was an All-State football player in high school and loved watching NBA Basketball. He was slow and methodical. Larry was also a strong willed, loving and selfless man who was always more concerned about what he could give rather than what he could get. This is how he modeled his faith in Christ. Larry was the epitome of ''good and faithful servant''.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Showalter (Michelle) of Batesville, Arkansas, John Showalter (Debbie) of Nashville, Tennessee; one brother, James R. Davis of Conway, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Thomas Showalter (Nichole), Matthew Showalter (Ashley), Spencer Showalter (Bethany); one great-grandson, four great-granddaughters and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Cathy Showalter Davis and one sister, Coralie Wimpy.

Pallbearers are Thomas Showalter, Matthew Showalter, Blake Weston, Taylor Weston, Tim Davis and Will Davis. Honorary pallbearers are the members of Fellowship Men's Sunday School Class.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 13, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church at 10:00am with Randy Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Lees Chapel Cemetery on Hwy 25.

Visitation will be from 9:00am until service time.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1775 Lyon St, Batesville, AR 72501 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

Jeff and John we send our sincere condolences to you and your family for Larry’s passing. Larry and Cathy were some of the most loving and genuine people I have ever known. What an honor to have had them in your life. We were all blessed to have known them. As the days pass, may your sweet memories and knowing they are in the presence of Jesus bring you much comfort and peace.
Blessings,
Rodney and Sharon

It breaks my heart that I can not be there with all of you as we are in Florida and with the hurricane it’s not safe to drive. Uncle Larry will always have a special place in My heart there was never a more selfless man. I can only imagine the reunion he is having now with Aunt Cathy ,his mom and sister but most of all his savior Jesus Christ. I am sure he heard the words Well done thy good and faithful servant as soon as he entered Heaven.
