Kenneth Hershel Yancey, 83, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024. Kenneth was born on July 17, 1940 in West Helena, Arkansas to the late Joel Hershel Yancey and Mryttle Robinson.
He was with the US Postal Service for thirty-six years. Kenneth was also a member of the Central Baptist Church and the Air Force for many years. Kenneth was a huge fan of football and enjoyed watching the Arkansas Razorbacks. He was a huge animal lover and had a love for gardening as well.
Kenneth Yancey is preceded in death by his parents, Joel Yancey and Mryttle Robinson; wife, Dottie Yancey and sisters, Wilma Gordon, Hazel Ross, Freda Steingraber and Linda Joy.
He is survived by his two sons, Eric Yancey (Kelsey) of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Bob Griffin (Cheryl) of Jonesboro, Arkansas; two daughters, Jamie Ross (Scott Freeman) of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Kim Throgmorton of North Little Rock, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Molly Throgmorton, Kellye Doyle, Meredith Lancaster, Morgan Gardner, Sarah Griffin and Kennedy Ross; seven great grandchildren, Noah Doyle, Olivia Doyle, Gabe Gardner, Ava Ross, Barrett Gardner, Marleigh Gardner and Amelia Hill.
Kenneth's visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel in West Helena, Arkansas. His service will immediately follow his visitation at 12:00 p.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home Chapel in West Helena, Arkansas.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alzheimer's Association ''3150 Lenox Park Blvd Suite 402, Memphis, TN 38115'' and Humane Society of the Delta. Was classmate of Ken's from 6th grade at Woodruff and both were in Class of 59 gradationing class at Central High. Ken was a nice and friendly person.

I got acquainted with Ken through Civitan, he was a very down to earth person, I never saw him when he wasn’t just a delight to be around he was treasure in Civitan for many years. Would accompany us delivering Fruit cakes. Shared a lot of his talent ! He helped all the people around him ! I’m glad Ken is reunited with his beloved wife Dotty. Keep in touch Ken. I believe in the communion of Saints!

Happy to have known the Yancy family my whole life. We all lived on South Sixth St. My sister Mary Ann & Ken were babies together. He came to see her when she was ill. She appreciated him so much. Every time we saw him he always had a smile & time for a good visit. Good memories of him. May God bless you all at this sad time.

We enjoyed getting to know Ken when he moved to Jonesboro and joined our SS class at Central Baptist. We talked often about our common acquaintances in Lee county where I spent my early life living around Cypress Corner. We were blessed to know Ken, he is missed. Ken and his family were a big part of the life of West Helena Baptist where we grew up,
It was a delight to renew our acquaintance in Jonesboro and share memories of those years, Ken became a valued member of Jonesboro Civitan . Ken was a good man, a good father, and a faithful and loving husband. It was an honor to know him. His was a life well lived, Peace and comfort to his family.

We got to know Ken when he joined Central Baptist and tried keeping up with him after he was no longer able to attend church. He was such a gentleman. The information he shared about the Sallis family and others of our past life in Lee County was special and I am grateful for the all-too-short time he spent with us.

I never met a better man. He was honorable and loved the Lord. Dottie was his wife whom he adored. Their children brought endless joy to them. Just to know Ken made me a better person. The memories will remain because he was a childhood friend and remained so throughout life.
