Rena Jo Treat

of Marshall, AR

February 17, 1943 - September 4, 2024

Rena Jo McClung Treat, age 81, of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this earthly life on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024 at the home of her niece, Laura. She was born in Marshall, Arkansas on February 17th, 1943 to Herbert Joe McClung and Tilda Marie House McClung.

Rena was of the Southern Baptist faith. She was one of the founding members of the Searcy County Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was always in the middle of all that was going on. She was a lifelong volunteer in the church and worked tirelessly setting up Vacation Bible Schools all across the county. Rena had such a musical talent. She was the music director at church for many years. She played many instruments including the guitar, banjo, mandolin and autoharp. She also sang in various gospel groups in the area. Rena even taught a few of her grands to play as well. She graduated Big Flat High School and attended college for 2 years. She also was a Daycare owner. Rena loved spending time with her family and always loved when the house was full. After David passed, she enjoyed spending time with her Saturday morning breakfast ladies, traveling the country and doing some sightseeing. Rena was a vibrant, friendly woman who enjoyed talking and visiting with all she came in contact with. She would brag on her grandkids and was always very partial to them. Her loving, nurturing spirit will be missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Marlin Treat of Pyatt, Curtis Treat and wife, Sherri Jo of Fayetteville and Charlotte Uzzel of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Danielle Hinchey (Cody) of Marshall, Sarah Treat of Lowell, William Treat (Lynsie) of Flippin, Phillip Uzzel of Bozeman, Montana, Joe Uzzel (Jordan) of Kansas City, Missouri, Elizabeth Uzzel of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jocelyne Uzzel of Florida, John David Treat (Audrey) of Harrison and Luke Treat (Linh) of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jennings, Ella, Elliott, Faylin, Natalie Jo, Vinnie, Sawyer and Henry; siblings, Charles McClung of Mountain Home, Sue Dotson of Mountain Home and Naomi Chipman of Mountain Home; special extended family, Laura Treat and Mason Treat and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends who will also mourn her passing.

Rena is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Tilda; her husband, David Lucine Treat, who passed away in 2019; son, Steve Treat and siblings, WA McClung, LD McClung and Debbie McClung.

Graveside services for Rena will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 7th, 2024 at East Lawn Cemetery in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Tim Cypert officiating. Bearers will be Phillip Uzzel, William Treat, Joe Uzzel, John Treat, Luke Treat, Mason Treat and Jackson Hinchey. Honorary bearers will be Sam Pemberton, Legacy Hospice and her Saturday morning breakfast club buddies, Deanna Hubbard, Pat McCutcheon, Elvenia Blair, Louise Gibbs, Theresa Ragland, Glenda Horton, Esther Anderson, Sue Gray, Gay Phung, Janet Rainbolt and Sharon Redman. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Rena to the Morning Star Baptist Church, PO Box 221, Marshall, AR 72650.

I don’t stay up-to-date with my email, so my condolence message is very late.
Though my condolences are really late, I want to let you know that I am truly sorry for your loss.
I didn’t know Rena well, but from my limited interactions with her, I could tell she was a Christian lady with a kind, considerate heart and that she loved people.
I pray for your comfort and peace in dealing with your loss.
With care,
Sue Nan

Yes, I am another Big Flat girl that knew Rena years and years ago. I wish I could say I knew her after we left Big Flat but I didn’t. By the way everybody has wrote on here she was one special lady that loved to spread the word of our Dear Savior through life and sing all the beautiful songs that spread his word. Yes, to the family God Bless each one of you. Your family is getting smaller just like ours but hey, heaven is better than this earth anyway and looking forward to seeing all the McClungs again one day. Rena have us a Special to sing on that fun day when we meet again. Sue and Namoni, I love you both dearly and have missed you both after moving away. Hey, I had to move and enjoy my only grandson Seeyou all again soon.

I have very pleasant and fond memories of this very Special Lady while growing up in Big Flat in the 1950's and 1960's. Being friends with her brothers I was at her home a lot of time. We also lived across the hollow from each other. May you rest in peach and prayers for the family.

I will miss seeing Rena at the Big Flat Homecoming. She was a beautiful lady and did not look her age. She was a classmate to one of my older sisters and grew up in a house that was close to where I grew up. She was so friendly and had a loving personality and was always glad to see me. My prayers go to all her family and to her many friends.

Oh the singing that we did with all those kids at Searcy County Church in the big blue building. She loved to hear those kids sing Sandy Patti “Praise Songs”. Loved playing the piano for her when she wanted to sing solo! God gained a Choir Member today!!
