Dixie Dean Marriott

of Mountain Home, AR

January 4, 1928 - August 27, 2024

Dixie Dean (Rowland) Marriott of Mountain Home, Arkansas returned to her heavenly home on August 27, 2024 at the age of 96. Dixie was blessed with a large and loving family. She passed peacefully at Baxter Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones.
Dixie was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Coy Lee Marriott, her son, Donald Lee Marriott, one sister, Pearl Usrey and three half-siblings, Regina, James and Auburn Delozier.
She is survived by her daughter, Colleen Ivie of Eureka Springs, Arkansas and 6 grandchildren, Cindy Rybak, Collin Marriott, Cassandra Bail, Charity Branstetter, Rusty Raubs and Devon Ivie,14 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
Dixie was born in Metalton, Arkansas on January 4, 1928, the daughter of the late Dee and Cora (Buell) Rowland. She was a long-time resident of Green Forest, Arkansas and graduated from Green Forest High School in 1946. Her first job was working at the soda fountain inside Bishop's Drug Store. She married at age 19 and traveled Route 66 many times with her husband to the San Francisco Bay area in their Studebaker Golden Hawk. They lived near the Finley River in Ozark, Missouri for 28 years where she worked at Fasco Industries and the small manufacturing company she owned with her husband. She also enjoyed working at Silver Dollar City during the fall festivals where she sold quilts while her husband operated the steam engine. She and her husband retired to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1994.
Dixie lived a long and full life doing the things she loved. She loved to sing and she sang in many church choirs over the years. She also shared her husband's love of steam engines and the Razorback steamboat they owned for many years on Lake Norfork. Dixie never met a stranger and she was quick to whip up a delicious meal for family and friends. She will be fondly remembered for her delicious homemade ''granny'' rolls.
The family will be forever grateful for the in-home care provided by her grandson, Rusty and caregiver, Jeannie Chism. And the love and companionship of her little dog, Trixie, who was her eyes and ears, cannot be overlooked.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the Denver Cemetery in Denver, Arkansas.

Granny will be missed. I meet her when they moved here right around th corner from us. I helped rusty care for granny. I will miss her very much. I gave her Trixie. That was a perfect. match. I havbeen gone a few years fighting my own liosts and heart aches and fighting stage 4 breast cancer . I will always remember granny and everything she did for rusty and her family and me.
