Sorry to see the last Gathright of his generation has passed. His long life has been a sign of hope for those of us in the next generation. I was pleased to see that his life was highlighted on youtube for others to appreciate.
Paula and family , So sorry for your loss. I didn't know him personally but I heard lots of good things about him from my family at Sharp Church. He left an impression on their lives that will always be with them . May God bless you.
What a joy Lloyd was to talk to!! His memory was amazing! Carolyn and I enjoyed visiting with him, and talking about the glider he built with my dad, Johnny Glenn, and Ray Stokes!
I loved that the obituary mentioned the glider that Lloyd, Johnny Glenn, and Daddy (Ray Stokes) built! Ceil Glenn Smith and I went to WoodCrest a year ago and I took the picture and write up about the glider to show him. He immediately went to his file cabinet and showed me HIS COPY!!!
It such a honor and privilege to take care of this wonderful man during my time at Woodcrest Assisted living. He had so many adventures and such a wonderful historian. He will be greatly missed. Praying for peace and comfort during this difficult time for his friends and family.

Mr. Gathright was an awesome man. He loved his country and showed it in his everyday life. He had a great mind until it failed a few months ago. He will be sorely missed.
