James ''Jim'' Walter Garrett, age 76, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024. Jim was born in Greensburg, Kansas on February 19, 1948 to his late parents, John and Avis Mackey Garrett. In Jim's early years, his hobbies included drag racing, racing cars and was active with the Boy Scouts of America. In addition, he was a member of St. James United Methodist Church
He is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Ruthanne Murphy. Survivors include his four children, Rebecca Schuetz, Patrick Garrett, Sarah Murphy and Rachel Murphy; one brother and one sister, John Garrett and Karla Winfield; five grandchildren, Garrett Archutz, Emma Schuetz, Hadley Schuetz, Cooper Garrett and Cody Garrett; one niece, Christina Garrett Lyng and two nephews, Alex Garrett and Phillip Winfield.
A memorial service will be 11:00am on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at St. James United Methodist Church with Reverend Greg Schick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Ruthanne and Jim's name.
Prayers for Jim’s family. He was a good friend when he lived in Greensburg. Spent many hours at our house & ate many meals with us. To add to his hobbies he rode a motorcycle. My girls always remembered him in their prayers. Rest in peace Jim.
