Ronnie Gene Ray of Gassville has gone to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at age 81.
He was born December 10, 1942 in Leachville, AR to Howard ''Buck'' Ray and Evelyn Ray. Ronnie married JoAnn (Smith) Ray in 1962 and had always sought to remain active within his community.
He worked as a purchasing director for Capitol Mercury (Mar-Bax) shirt company until his retirement, including the fire department in which he served for many years alongside his father, Buck. Other endeavors include Mayor of Gassville, Treasurer of the Cotter School Board and his attendance with the Calvary Temple Assembly of God throughout his life.
Ronnie Ray is survived by his wife, JoAnn Ray of Gassville; daughter, Tina (Russ) Dameron of Springfield; his son, Terry Ray of Gassville; Terry's fiancée, Wendy Presley of Mountain Home; his granddaughters, Stormi Day and Addison Ray of Mountain Home; nephews, Mike Adams of Mountain Home and Darin Smith of Henderson, Scott Rose of Laramie; nieces, Phyllis (David) Murry of Lancaster, Tracey (Mike) Adams and Vickie (Monty) Feagins.
Ronnie had many family members that he felt honored to cherish throughout his life. Ronnie was preceded in death by both his parents and sister, Jeannette Heard.
Graveside services will be begin on Saturday, July 27th at 10AM in Gassville Cemetery with Pastor Kyle Tardiff officiating. This will be followed by a luncheon at the Calvary Temple Church in Cotter

JoAnne and family, my condolences and prayers for you all...going back MANY years, I remember seeing Ronnie as a fun-loving high schooler flying down our street in Cotter on his bike , often singing at the top of his lungs, and making sure we saw that it was a "no-hands" run!!!

I’m so sorry to hear of Ronnie’s passing. As a kid I used to look at old Cotter yearbooks and found that Ronnie was a good basketball player. He was always so friendly anytime we would happen to run into each other. He was a good guy and he will be missed.

My deepest condolences for your loss. I remember Ronnie from the visits to Arkansas with my nanny and Pawpaw, Georgia and Alfred Gregory. He was always kind to me. My prayers are that you all have peace and God’s comfort.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. So many memories of happy, fun times, camping trips, travels & just being together. Ronnie was always so good to all of us and only saw the best in me, even as rebellious teenager. Serious most of the time the last few years and then he would say something funny that had you laughing. He was a wonderful person and my memories of him will always be great ones. It's not goodbye but see ya later....God's promise. I love you all!
