Sue Batson, 91, of Greenbrier ran into the arms of Jesus, Thursday, July 18th, 2024.She was born December 3rd, 1932 in Greenbrier to the late Oliver and Jewell Brannan. She is preceded in the death by the love of her life and husband of 63 years, Bill Batson; granddaughter, Kristi Tilley; son-in-law, Jeremy Brown and brother, Donald Brannan.
She is survived by three daughters, Kathy Newland (Danny) of Dennard; Karen Newland (Randy) of Greenbrier; Lisa Batson Brown of Conway; grandchildren, Heather Newland Hollis; Josh Newland (Rachel); Lacey Standridge (Jared); Will Newland (Ashley); Wes Newland (Randi); Abby Andrews; Audrey Cone (Tyler); Jaxon Brown; sixteen great grandchildren, Alex, Ace & Bodie Newland; Sam, Sydney & Shelby Standridge; Dixie, Daysie & Ike Newland; Lathan, Finley & Weston Newland; Cayde & Cambry Andrews; Ellen & Norah Cone and a host of other family and friends.

Sue was a lifelong resident of Greenbrier and an active faithful charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Greenbrier. Sue loved playing the piano and singing. As a teenager she and her classmates would go to Conway and sing on the radio for a church service. She was the Children's Choir director for church and Bible School, played the organ, piano and sang in the choir. She enjoyed seeing Broadway musicals with her church friends. She loved all kinds of sports. She and her husband, Bill, attended the Greenbrier football, basketball, baseball and softball games for years. Then they followed their grandchildren and great-grandchildren all over the state watching them play sports. Sue received her BSE from Arkansas State Teacher's College and her MSE from UCA. She was a teacher for 25 years and loved her students and they loved her. Her cooking was legendary, especially Sunday lunches after church for her entire large family. She loved her family and people in general. She loved being called Nanny or Nanny Sue by all of her many grandchildren and their friends. She will be remembered as a godly woman who was a shining light for Jesus. Her smile, that sparkle in her eyes and positive attitude lit up any room. We were so sorry to hear the news of ‘Nanny’s’ passing. I did not personally know Nanny until we got to know her during the years of sporting events, while at Greenbrier. We were always so happy (especially Isabella) when she showed up to an event - she could brighten a room/arena like nobody else. She was always smiling, encouraging and loving, to Isabella. And always elegant, always beautiful, always gracious to all of us. I know this will be such an adjustment for all of you…prayers for her wonderful family and close friends during this time and days to come.
