Kathryn Lynn Boone

of Marion, AR

June 4, 1991 - July 5, 2024

Kathryn (Katy) Lynn Oswalt Boone went to her heavenly home on July 5, 2024. She was 33 years old. She was born to her parents, Robert Lynn Oswalt and Dianne Oswalt Fynmore, on June 4, 1991. To know Katy was to love her. Her infectious laugh and smile were guaranteed to brighten your day.

Katy was born and raised in West Memphis, Arkansas. She was an active member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and very active in their youth program. She enjoyed sports and was a cheerleader at West Jr. High School. She also played soccer and volleyball at West Memphis High School. She graduated from West Memphis High School in 2009. She later attended the University of Memphis where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Childhood Development.

Katy had a love for teaching and for her students. She was a mentor teacher, grade level chair, and served on the guiding coalition team. Always finding ways to help her students, she transitioned to a dyslexia therapist for the West Memphis School District.

Katy married the love of her life, Taylor Boone, in October of 2015. Adding to her blessings and joys of life, they later became parents to their son, Emmett. Being a mother to her son became Katy's greatest role in life. She loved him more than words can describe.

Katy is preceded in death by her father, Robert Oswalt, grandparents, Joseph & Joy Rose Hibbard, W.E. & Betty Oswalt, uncle, Larry Oswalt, and mother-in-law, Debra Boone.

Katy is survived by her husband, Taylor Justin Boone, son, Emmett Boone, mother, Dianne Fynmore (Michael), brothers, Chris (Kara) Oswalt and Barrett (Bekah) Oswalt, nieces, Savannah Oswalt and Alayna Oswalt, nephew, Levi Oswalt, father-in-law, Larry Boone, sister-in-law, Amber Marino and brother-in-law, Jason Frazier.

A Celebration of Life is being held at New Beginnings Methodist Church on July 19, 2024, at 11:00 am.

I give my deepest condolences to the Oswalt family. I went to school with Katy and Barrett at St.Michaels, WJHS, & WMHS. Her Dad was my football coach at West Memphis Junior High School. Katy always had a smile on her face and was full of life. I can`t even tell you how many times her friends would come up to her and ask her for notes or help with a piece of homework. Some even cheated off her in class. She was alot of fun and very smart. I never heard her say a cross word about anyone ever. I am praying for you guys!

I can remember each and every memory with Katy. First as my friend. She always included me. Then as Cooper’s teacher and then as Emmett’s mom at Richland. It’s so freaking cool to see your childhood friends grow up and become the best people. This absolutely wrecks my soul for Emmett, Taylor, Dianne, Barrett and Chris. The most positive thing I can take away from this is getting to see her Daddy’s face at heaven’s gates with Jesus. What a sight and smile! My love to the entire Boone and Oswalt family. I love you all so much!

My heart breaks for each of Katy’s family. I can’t recall ever seeing Katy without a smile. I have very fond memories of her hanging out with a group of girls at our house! Even to this day, when I hear Eminem singing. “Just Lose It” I think of Katy singing it as she did at a sleepover at our house! She was so loved and will be missed greatly! Prayers for comfort and healing.

My heart hurts loosing Katy so very deeply
Since the day Katy was born, when I held her she was so beautiful and watching her through the years she exuded her beauty inside to everyone! My precious niece and I had such a sweet and fun relationship that I treasure! All of our family always watched over for our Katy throughout many wonderful family good times!
God must have needed a special angel!

Dianne and family,
My heart has been hurting for all of you since I heard about sweet Katy O (she will always be Katy O to me). I've known Katy since she was a little bitty thing, then being blessed to be her teacher in my first class straight out of college and eventually she was my own baby's teacher at St. Michael's! I was even able to sub in her room when she was on maternity leave with precious Emmett. I loved getting to see her become an amazing teacher. I know Coach O meet her with the biggest hug. You will all continue to be in my thoughts and prayers as you learn to navigate without her precious soul here on Earth.

Katie,

I will never forget the way you made me feel so welcome and safe when we did theater together. I was always the shy girl that usually stood in a corner-- You would always go out of your way to offer kind words, and to make me feel included. You were such a warm person.

Mrs. Oswalt, my thoughts are with you and all of Katie's loved ones.
